Tony Stewart Returns to Plymouth Speedway Aug. 16

By: Anita Soltis

(Plymouth, IN) NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is slowly making his comeback into dirt track racing and he’ll be showing his fans that he still has what it takes to win when he comes to Plymouth Speedway for the Bob Newton Classic next month.

Stewart will race his Winged Sprint car on the fastest dirt surface in Northern Indiana on Aug. 16.

Stewart regretfully canceled an appearance at the Playground of Power last year after he was seriously injured in a Winged Sprint car accident on Aug. 5, 2013 at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He made a promise to return to give the fans a show and he’s kept that promise.

“I am glad to be able to race in the Bob Newton Classic at Plymouth Speedway,” said Stewart. “The Playground of Power in Plymouth is one of the nicest tracks around and they made it great in just a year-and-a half of being a dirt track. Every time you go there you always see a great show and I promise this will be big!”

The Bob Newton Classic will begin at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, Aug. 16. The event is sponsored by Sparkman Auto Sales of Warsaw.

In addition to the main feature, the Swan Lake Resort UMP Modifieds, Super Streets and the Dickies Restaurant 600 Sprints will also be ready to race that night.
