A Windy City Sixth-Place Finish For Spencer Gallagher

Spencer Gallagher drove GMS Racing's No. 23 Alamo Rent A Car Chevrolet to a sixth-place finish in the Ansell ActivArmr 150 ARCA Racing Series race at Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday afternoon, and also led the most laps with 70. The Las Vegas driver started strong on Saturday after posting the second-fastest time in qualifying and never fell below ninth in the running order. Gallagher took the initial green flag and immediately reported his yellow and blue machine was loose, and jumped to the lead on Lap three, leading for the next 70 circuits around the 1.5-mile speedway. He made his first pit stop of the event during a caution period on Lap 52 for four tires, fuel and adjustments to improve a loose-handling condition. Quick work by the GMS Racing pit crew allowed the Nevada native to maintain track position, and Gallagher restarted from the first position when green-flag racing resumed on Lap 57. He continued in the lead for the next 15 laps. Crew chief Ryan Pickle London called for chassis adjustments during a routine two-tire pit stop under the caution period on Lap 82 to alleviate the free condition that Gallagher was struggling with. He restarted from the ninth position on Lap 85, but the handling on the No. 23 Alamo Rent A Car Chevrolet didn't improve, causing Gallagher to battle handling issues until the checkered flag waved when he crossed the finish line in the sixth position. Saturday's result marks Gallagher's fifth top-10 finish of the ARCA Racing Series season.

Spencer Gallagher Quote:

"I'm glad we could bring home a sixth-place finish for GMS Racing. We battled a loose-handling Chevrolet towards the end of the race, but before that it was all Sunday driving. The No. 23 Alamo Rent A Car team worked hard this week getting the car ready for the race, and it showed. We were fast and led a lot of laps.
