Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Heads to Kansas Tuesday Night for "Clash of the Titans"

WAYCROSS, GA (July 11, 2014) - The stars and cars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will travel to Kansas City, Kansas on Tuesday July 15th for the 2nd Annual "Clash of the Titans" event at Lakeside Speedway. The premier national tour will visit the pristine facility where NASCAR Star and former Lakeside Speedway track champion Clint Bowyer honed his skills. Clint is scheduled to attend and sign autographs and watch his two current LOLMDS drivers Don O'Neal and Steve Francis compete. There will be a complete show with Hot-Laps, Miller Welders Time Trials, Heat Races and B-Mains, followed by the 50-Lap feature event - paying $10,000 to win. As part of this special event titled the "Clash of the Titians" the United States Modified Touring Series will also be in action in conjunction with the LOLMDS at Lakeside Speedway. The USMTS is the premier dirt open wheel modified series in the country and fans can expect to see the best modified drivers competing for a $3,000 to win first place prize. Several drivers are expected to pull double-duty racing in both the LOLMDS event and the USMTS event on Tuesday Night. Drivers planning on this huge task include Ronnie Sanders, 2010 USMTS national champion and current Dunn-Benson Ford Rookie of the Year driver on the LOLMDS Jason Hughes and second-generation star Terry Phillips. Don O'Neal is leading the current LOLMDS championship point standings with a slim point lead in the over the hottest driver in the country right now, Jimmy Owens. Scott Bloomquist sits in third in the chase for the LOLMDS National Championship, followed by Earl Pearson Jr., Eddie Carrier Jr., Steve Francis, John Blankenship, Jared Landers, Dennis Erb Jr., and Jason Hughes rounds out the top ten in the series championship point standings.

 

Jason Hughes holds a slim lead over Jason Papich in the chase for the 2014 Dunn-Benson Rookie of the Year title. Both rookie drivers continue to improve each week, as they compete at new tracks for the first time this year on the series.
