rebelracewriter
TRANSMISSION ISSUES PLAGUE MAX GRESHAMS 2014 TRUCK DEBUT CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 20, 2014) After signing with GMS Racing in April for a limited NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season, the time had finally come for Max Gresham to get back behind the wheel and make his 2014 debut at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway. Unfortunately, the race ended almost as quickly as it started, as transmission issues plagued Gresham and the No. 23 AmWINS Chevrolet at lap 13. Gresham finished in the 31st position. After partaking in the new qualifying format for the first time, Gresham advanced to the third and final round and placed his Chevrolet Silverado in the 12th starting position. Shortly after the green flag flew to start the North Carolina Education Lottery 200, Gresham radioed to his AmWINS crew that the No. 23 truck was pretty good and the driver was just riding to not tear up his equipment. Moments later, the transmission lost fourth gear without notice and relegated Gresham to a 31st-place result. Its pretty disappointing, said Gresham. All day our AmWINS Chevrolet had been driving really well and it was nice to be back in a truck with a lot of speed. I was just taking it easy to save our equipment at the beginning of the race, then all of a sudden going into the turn, the transmission lost fourth gear. There was nothing else we could have done at that point. Its a shame for this GMS Racing team but we will keep digging and come back at Kentucky next month. Greshams next Truck Series event will come at Kentucky Speedway on Thursday, June 26, 2014. The UNOH 225 will begin at 8:00 PM ET, with live television coverage on FOX Sports 1. The Motor Racing Network (MRN) and Sirius-XM Satellite Radio will have live radio coverage.
