rebelracewriter Posted May 15, 2014 Report Share Posted May 15, 2014 Southern Oklahoma Speedway Set to Host USMTS This Saturday NightGeary, Oklahoma May 13, 2014 - Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore, Oklahoma is set to host the United States Modified Touring Series this coming Saturday night, May 17, as the tour makes their annual appearance to the three-eighths mile clay oval. If previous events held at the track are any indication, a thrilling race is sure to be seen.This event will put to a close a four race in three race swing for the USMTS stars with events having been held at Lawton Speedway (Thursday night) and Longdale Speedway (Friday night). The series was set to begin on Wednesday night in Mesquite, Texas but that event was cancelled due to rain.As mentioned, the John and Nicky Webb owned track has been the site of some thrillers in past years, including the last three races which were captured by three of the top four in the regional points this season-Johnny Scott, Stormy Scott and Rodney Sanders.Over forty of the top modified drivers in a seven state area are expected to compete and one of the favorite stops on the tour. Among them include the above mentioned Johnny and Stormy Scott, Sanders, Kelly Shryock, Cade Dilliard, Clyde Dunn, Jr., Dan Powers, Joe Duvall, Dereck Ramirez, Bobby Malchus, Bryan Rowland and many more.Gates open at 5:00, hot laps begin at 6:30 and racing starts at 7:30. Ticket prices are $20 for adults; $15 for kids ages 6-12, $15 for seniors and children ages 5 and under are free. Pit passes are $35. Support classes include Limited Modifieds and Stock Cars.The Southern Oklahoma Speedway is located 0.7 mile east of I-35 (exit 29) on US 70, then 1.8 miles south on US 77.
