(May 8, 2014) With the URSS Sprint Car season opener in the spotlight at Dodge City Raceway Park on Saturday night, four of the tracks championship chase divisions will be in action as well with the title chase pictures taking shape. Along with the URSS Sprint Cars, the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and Hornets will be in action Saturday night with racing action firing off at 7:30 p.m. With Jake Bubak kicking off his URSS title defense, Ryan Heger leads the way into Saturday in the IMCA Modifieds with other leading DCRP title contenders on Saturday including Jeff Kaup in IMCA Sport Modifieds, Perry Misner in IMCA Stock Cars and Jarett Lunow in Hornets. A look at the DCRP title chases IMCA Modifieds: Picking up wins in each of the previous two DCRP season finales, Hugotons Ryan Heger is getting off to a fast start in 2014 with a pair of third-place finishes in the opening three events propelling him to a 24-point lead over Cole Traugott, who snared a pair of late-season wins in 2013. Only 19 points separate the drivers ranked second through seventh, including sixth-ranked and defending champion Austin Allen who comes off a DNF after a run-in with past national champ David Murray last week. Three drivers have reached victory lane in as many events thus far in 2014 with Ulysses shoe Joel Lane earning a first career Mod win last Saturday.
