Casey Smith Ready to double down in Southern Super Series Doubleheader

Austin, TX 4/23/14- So far through two races in the Southern Super Series Casey Smith has recorded two top ten finishes good enough for fourth in the series standings, twenty-one points out of the top position.

This weekend though, Smith and his #99 Smith Paving and Excavating Super Late Model will make the familiar trek to Pensacola on Friday night and to Mobile on Saturday night for the first doubleheader weekend of the 2014 Southern Super Series season. This weekend has the chance to drastically change the points standings, a fact that Smith is well aware of.

"This weekend is huge for everyone," said Smith. "You've got to be strong at both places and stay out of trouble because this week we have two races instead of just one. We’ve got a little something extra for them at Pensacola this weekend. I’m hoping it’s the extra piece we’ve really been missing to be able to contend for a win."

Smith has been fast in each of the first two races this season. But his finishes have not been as good as he has run through the mid portion of the race. In each of the first two races Casey has battled and overcome mechanical issues to get two top ten finishes.

"We've had a car capable of finishing in the top five in each race if not the top three," said Smith. "The fact that we've had a couple of problems and have still finishes of 10th and 6th place I think speaks volumes about how strong we've been this year. I think we have a real shot at running really well this weekend in both races."
