zoom
Which SBC head is good for use at SAS under the current sportsman rules. The "preferred" heads are getting pretty hard to find at a price that is affordable. So, going down the list, which ones are then "best" to use. What about vortec? What would it take to use them? Truck99
Marc, The way I read your rules, I would think you guys would have to run an open chamber head cut down to meet the cc rule. I would look for a set of 487 or 441 heads to meet the rule. Vortec heads aren't allowed in the sportsman class. cs
BobbyJack
I was told that camel hump heads where ok? Maybe only for some cars.
Truck99
You would have to find a set of camel humps that would meet the 68cc rule. I don't think many will without grinding, but maybe KISS racing or one of the other guys will step in and comment on that. cs
rpfan
993 is a good head to run and are plentiful. They dont have to be milled much to get 68cc. If you can find 041 or 041x snatch-em up and use them.
Truck99
The 041 head is a good head, but it is also a closed chamber head like the camel humps - usually around 64 to 65 cc chambers. You really need to talk to the fast guys at the track and find out what they are doing. If they have found a way to run closed chamber heads, you'd be screwing yourself to used an open chamber head. cs
MadRacing19
You can get a good set of heads from Arrowhead. They sell heads ready to bolt on with ss valves,525 lift springs and 3/8 screw in studs for $ 369.00. Anywhere from 76cc to 65cc milled down. I just got a set for a friend and they are quality heads. 317-862-0223.
