TOTAL METROPLEX ENTRY READIES FOR SILVERADO 350k

FORT WORTH-DALLAS (October 12, 2004) – Race teams and drivers for Saturday’s Silverado 350k NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway will come from all corners of the United States. But one completely local team consisting of driver Blake Mallory, owner Sparky Grape and sponsor PM-Performance Motors will be taking the role of David versus the Goliaths of the Craftsman Truck Series into the Lone Star State showdown.

Mallory, who hails from Joshua, will be seeking to make his third career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start. Owner Grape is from Fort Worth. Mallory and Grape are former competitors in Legends Cars racing at the speedway. Primary sponsor PM-Performance Motors is based in Burleson.

“This is a really good deal,” said Mallory. “The chassis is one built by Morgan-Dollar, Dennis Setzer’s owners. It was purpose-built for Daytona in 2001 and ran well. The truck hasn’t been raced since then.

“We had a new Chevrolet Silverado body put on the truck in Charlotte recently and have a Tri-Star engine for it. It is going to be a good truck. We just have to make it turn left fast.

“There are 40 teams entered, so qualifying for the race would really be a big deal to our team. Everything is going to have to fall into place. That, and a little bit of luck.”

Burning the midnight oil taking care of last-minute preparations has been the norm for the team. “The sun has been coming up when we have finished many nights,” commented Grape. “We will be ready when practice kicks off Friday.”

Several Metroplex companies have joined the effort as associate sponsors including Mom’s Deli Sandwiches, Young Chevrolet, No Frill’s Grill, JT Stump Grinding, Campbell Road Car Care Center and Mallory Screen Printing and Embroidery.

The Silverado 350k will feature the continuing battle for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series title between Bobby Hamilton, Setzer, Carl Edwards and Ted Musgrave. Tickets are on sale daily at the speedway, by calling (817) 215-8500, online at www.texasmotorspeedway.com and at Ticketmaster locations.
