Texas Asphalt Limited Modified Series to debut May 18th, 2013

Corpus Christi, TX.,(May 14th’ 2013) After a year of trying to generate interest in a pavement Limited Modified series, Cody Beddoe finally has made some headway, securing tracks and sponsors. Two south-central tracks area paved tracks have agreed to each host two series point’s events during the 2013 racing season. CC Speedway, a tight, high-banked, ¼ mile, bull ring, kicks of the series on May 18th. The series then travels to near Austin for its next race at Central Texas Speedway, a 3/8 mile, semi-banked, D-shaped track in Kyle on July 27th.

TALMS credo; A series made by the drivers, for the drivers. Our sole purpose is the make Asphalt Limited Modified community better. “There’s really no head honcho,” said Beddoe. “If there is an issue with the way the races are run or a procedure that needs to be changed, it can be brought up in the drivers meeting and voted on.”

The May 18th race at Corpus Christi Speedway also includes The Pro Late Models, Texas Pro Sedans, Bombers and Front Runners. Friday(17th) the track will have an open practice from 5:00-10:00pm. The pit gate opens Saturday at noon with practice starting at 2:00pm. Qualifying for the TALMS, Pro Late Models and Pro Sedans will begin at 6:00pm.

Drivers from across the Lone Star state have expressed interest as well as Oklahoma and Louisiana, and even our neighbors across the border in Mexico. To date, 28 drivers have registered for the series, including former Austin-area native Colt James, who now resides in North Carolina and is employed by Roush-Yates Racing.

.

Brad Bush, who serves as Race Director for San Antonio Speedway, will assume the same role in TALMS. Technical Director will be Chris Saathoff, who also heads the tech staff at San Antonio Raceway and Central Texas Speedway.

Rules for the TALMS are based off of IMCA’s Southern Sportmod, with the exception of tires and headers. The tire rules allow drivers and teams the option to run a Hoosier F75 slick, Goodyear grooved asphalt tire or use up their ‘500’ series dirt tires.
