NickHolt Posted October 18, 2012 Report Posted October 18, 2012 SPEED RECORDS COULD FALL IN 2012 OVAL TRACK SEASON FINALE AT HOUSTON MOTORSPORT PARK Housotn, TX (October 18, 2012) - With the championships all settled and one final race left on the schedule, it will be a dash for the cash in what could be the fastest race of the season at Houston Motorsports Park's season finale on Saturday, Oct. 27. In front of what is sure to be a packed grandstand for HebertFinancial.com NASCAR Night, drivers in the NASCASR Fiesta Modifieds will again be racing on 10-inch tires and that should lead to another night of record setting speeds on the 3/8-mile high-banked oval at HMP. “Last time out on the 10-inch slicks, the drivers in the NASCAR Fiesta Modifieds set new lap-time records in practice and and during the feature,” said John Mandabach, vice president and general manager of HMP. “Now with a race under their belts, the drivers in this class are looking at running in the high 13 seconds, which would make the season finale a record setting night.” NASCAR Fiesta Modified driver Jason Morman (#33) on the pole for the class' first ever race on 10-inch tires. Fans will also be treated to double-feature racing in the NASCAR BWFS 360 Trucks, NASCAR Stock Cars and Ecostock classes, where drivers will have a chance at multiple victories. “This will be the final time for a driver to get win, pocket a big check and earn bragging rights heading into the offseason,” Mandabach said. “There will be no better place to be on Saturday night than right here at Houston Motorsports Park.” It will also be the final chance for drivers in the NASCAR Stock Car class to claim a $1,600 Bounty Bonus for beating David Webster, who owns 10 wins this season – including both ends of the double feature last time out at HMP's Fall Fastival. “Drivers will have two chances again to beat David and collect the bounty,” Mandabach said. “There have been plenty of challengers the last few races, but he has had an answer for them all. But anything can, and usually will, happen on the track. Especially being just a few days from Halloween.” Ladies are just $1, while tickets are available for $12 at the track for men, with children 12 and under free. There will also be free parking. And, as always, there will be $1 hot dogs, $1 cokes and $1 beer. Gates open at 4 p.m. Racing is set to begin at 6 p.m. HMP is a state of the art complex, situated in a park like setting inside Beltway 8, on the North-East side of Houston, only 20 minutes from downtown and 20 minutes from Bush Intercontinental Airport. NickHolt Posted October 18, 2012 Author Report Posted October 18, 2012 I have had several questions from LSS members about why the Bounty Bonus on David Webster is still being offered since JT Schild won both of the twin NASCAR Stock Car features last Saturday. I wasn't aware until just a few minutes ago, but apparently Schild was DQ'd from both features. I have no details, however. Can anyone fill us in on what happened? Nick Quote
