Golden Triangle Raceway Park Friday results, 6/1/12

Beaumont, Texas (June 3, 2012) - Last Friday a big surprise greeted fans at GTRP. Professional drivers on tour with the SUPR Late Model series were brought in to perform. It came about when new track promoter, John O. Whittington, found out the group had an open race date before going to Houston on Saturday. Working with track owner, Glen Johnson, within three days last week, sponsors for the high dollar show were obtained. Their four race portion of the program was fast paced, exciting, and well received. Twenty one cars were in their 40 lap feature which began with a fireworks display and a four abreast salute to the fans with all drivers carrying American flags. Very impressive.

 

John O. Whittington competed in the special SUPR event. He was runner-up in the second heat, which was won by Troy Tipton, and placed seventh in the feature.
