(May 27, 2012) – The chase for the Dodge City Raceway Park 2012 track championships resumes as the track returns to action Saturday night with a full card of racing action. All five regularly featured divisions will take to the 3/8-mile clay oval this Saturday night at 7:30 p.m., including the IMCA Modifieds, United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, Poor Boy Kustomz Thunder Cars and Hornets. Those claiming early leads in the title chases include Brendon Gemmill, Clay Sellard, Perry Misner, Dan Rogers and Brandon Sprott. Gemmill, the reigning IMCA Modified champion at DCRP, has opened up a 20-point advantage over Cody Gearhart after sweeping through both nights of action on May 4-5 to take over the top spot. Mike Martin and Casey Wanger are another six points back in a tie for third, with Ryan Heger, Austin Allen and Van Gemmill knotted in a three-way tie for fifth in points. Sellard, a reigning track champion like Gemmill, has moved atop United Wireless IMCA Sport Modified points as well. Sellard’s lead, however, is by one mere point over Bart Baker. Perry Misner is two-for-two in IMCA Stock Car action, Dan Rogers holds the early edge in Poor Boy Kustomz Thunder Car competition and Brandon Sprott is atop Hornet points after the division’s lone outing of the year thus far. Tickets to Saturday night’s racing action are just $12 for adults. Seniors and Military receive a $5 discount, with children 11 and under admitted free if accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $30. Dodge City Raceway Park will present 16 nights of racing over a dozen different weekends in 2012. In addition to the five regularly featured classes of competition, special events over the course of the year will include World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, USAC Midgets, USAC Sprint Cars, ASCS National Tour, NCRA Sprint Cars, URSS 305 Sprints and BST Modifieds.
