STAMPEDE POINT LEADERS MARCH TOWARD TITLES

 

 

FORT WORTH-DALLAS (August 5, 2004) – Five of the six point leaders in the Thursday Night Stampede auto racing series solidified their chances for summer championships Thursday night with feature race victories at Lil’ Texas Motor Speedway. The final Thursday Night Stampede of the summer will be staged Thursday, August 12 with the racing beginning at 7:30 p.m.

 

 

 

Point pacesetters Don Barnard (Legends Masters), John Gottsacker (Legends Semi-Pro), Randy Miles (Thunder Roadsters), Mark Webb (Bandolero Young Guns) and Jordan Webb (Bandolero Bandits) each claimed Thursday night feature checkered flags. Legends Pro point runnerup Jared Whitton topped that division’s main event.

 

 

 

Barnard won his second straight Legends Masters Stampede feature and third of the summer after taking the race lead from Larry Riggan on the third lap. Riggan finished second ahead of Robert Merino who started 14th.

 

 

 

Gottsacker took the Legends Semi-Pro lead on the seventh lap from James Buescher and went on to score his fourth Stampede triumph. Buescher was second ahead of Dean Abbey.

 

 

 

Miles’ third straight Thunder Roadster Stampede triumph came over Buddy Goudy and Mike Carter. Miles carries a slim three-point margin over Goudy in the division’s Stampede point standings entering Thursday’s event.

 

 

 

Mark Webb remained a perfect six-for-six in Bandolero Young Guns Stampede competition, leading every lap enroute to a straightaway victory over Justin Long. Jordan Webb and Chris Buescher swapped the Bandolero Bandits lead three times before Webb took over for good on lap 13 enroute to his fourth Stampede win. Buescher collected the runnerup prize.

 

 

 

Whitton won his third Legends Pro Stampede feature of the summer after a late-race battle with Derek Shumaker. Whitton is one point behind Scott Merino entering next Thursday’s Stampede finale.
