Daily Record to be a night ‘to record’ at Thunder Hill Raceway

This Saturday will be a night “for the Record” at Thunder Hill Raceway (THR).

Actually, it will be San Marcos Daily Record Night at the races at THR this Saturday (July 17). SMDR Sports Editor Randy Stevens will serve as the Grand Marshall.

Thunder Hill Raceway is located at exit 210 off IH-35 in Kyle. The grandstand gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the Opening Ceremonies and races begin at 7 p.m.

“Our friends at the San Marcos Daily Record have been very supportive of our growth efforts this year,” said THR Marketing/PR/Media Director Chuck Licata. “The Daily Record staff has been a help to the race track since it opened back in 1998. Randy Stevens has been instrumental in the Record’s coverage of Thunder Hill over the years. We look forward to saluting him and the fine staff at the San Marcos Daily Record.”

There will be plenty of racing and non-racing action to entertain the fans at THR this Saturday. The Texas Pro Sedans series joins the A-Line Auto Parts (AAP) Street Stocks, the Capital City Trade & Technical School Hobby Stocks and the Grand Stocks for feature races throughout the evening.

THR’s intermission will be jam-packed this Saturday. First up will be the AAP Street Stocks, which will run a time-trial, giving the drivers a chance to break the track record for that class. Next up will be Round 3 of the THR Games, which will feature two (2) two-person teams driving a Grand Stock, with the driver blindfolded while the other person guides the driver around the track during a time trial. Finally, there will be a short recognition ceremony before the races begin again.

Thunder Hill Raceway is a 3/8-mile paved oval race track that runs races every Saturday night from March through October. THR is located off IH-35 at exit 210 (Yarrington Road exit), just 15 minutes south of Austin and 10 minutes north of San Marcos. For more information, please visit THR's web site at www.thunderhillraceway.com or call the track at (512) 736-8230.
