Brandon Bendele Hottest Driver in Texas Despite Holding Third in "Texas Tornado Tour" Points; Will Start Rain-delayed ROMCO 125 from Outside Pole Saturday at Thunder Hill

Kyle, TX -- Defending ROMCO Texas Tornado Tour champion Brandon Bendele of San Antonio comes into Thunder Hill Raceway here for the rain-delayed sixth round of the series as the hottest driver in Texas, despite currently being ranked third in points. In the five Tornado Tour races in 2004 Bendele has qualified on the pole twice and has three top ten finishes, including a win at Corpus Christi.

Three weeks ago he also won the Texas Challenge 125, leading every lap from the pole and posting a one-two finish with his dad, Larry, in an event that included drivers from San Antonio Speedway, Thunder Hill Raceway, Houston Motorsports Park and the Texas Super Racing Series. Bendele and his crew put together a fast deal to run Lloyd Alexander's Ford Taurus, combining the TSRS car with ten-inch wheels and tires to outguess the competition.

“It was a big win for us,” Brandon said after the Texas Challenge. “We put this together with Lloyd last week at Texas Motor Speedway and I wanted to win for him. We made some changes that we knew worked on our car, so past experience helped out a lot."

In May, Bendele upheld the honor of Texas racing by leading the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division Southeast Series "Leak Sealer 150" in Houston for 85 laps and finishing third behind series leader Jason Hogan of Cleveland, Georgia, and former series champ Jeff Fultz of Cincinnati, Ohio.

The ROMCO cars completed qualifying before the rains came two weeks ago, so the starting lineup has already been set. Bendele will start on the outside pole Saturday night next to Colt James of Austin, who won his first ROMCO race this season.
