THR Games Grand Prize ‘has some serious wheels’

Every Saturday night from now until Aug. 28, race fans who are 18-years-old and older can participate in the “THR Games” during race nights at Thunder Hill Raceway. The THR Games are a mix between the X-Games and Reality TV. As of today, the Grand Prize package for the THR Games Championships (scheduled for Sept. 18) has some “Real Wheels.”

“Since the THR Games take place at a race track, then our Grand Prize package should include some kind of vehicle, don’t you think?” asked THR Marketing/PR/Media Director Chuck Licata.

Licata announced Wednesday that JJ’s Pocket Bikes of Round Rock has become an associate sponsor of the THR Games, and JJ’s Pocket Bikes has put up two 49cc mini motorcycles as part of the Grand Prize package for the THR Games. JJ’s is owned by Jackie and Jay Hoover.

The prizes – worth a combined value of $1,359 – are a Ninja Pocket Rocket and a Super Chopper. Both have 49cc engines and have a weight capacity of 250 pounds. The Ninja Pocket Rocket weighs 36 pounds; has a maximum speed of 40 MPH; has 11-inch tires; has front and rear disc brakes, and the engine has 4.2 horsepower. The Super Chopper gets 30 miles per tank full of gas; has a stainless steel muffler; has a hand-controlled twist grip and a large comfortable seat.

“JJ’s will display its products out at the track for the duration of the THR Games, and I can promise they’re going to draw a lot of attention with their wide variety of mini motorcycles and mini choppers,” Licata stated. “Jackie Hoover approached Thunder Hill about the opportunity to work together, and I think this arrangement will be a win-win situation for both of us.”

Thunder Hill Raceway is a 3/8-mile paved oval race track that runs races every Saturday night from March through October. THR is located off IH-35 at exit 210 (Yarrington Road exit), just 15 minutes south of Austin and 10 minutes north of San Marcos. For more information, please visit THR's web site at www.thunderhillraceway.com or call the track at (512) 736-8230.
