Spectacular Salute to Our Troops This Friday at Golden Triangle Raceway Featuring ASCS Sprints and Bonus Purses in GTRP Classes

Beaumont, Texas (May 22, 2011) - U. S. military men and women, with current, valid ID, will be admitted to the Golden Triangle Raceway Park free this Friday, May 27th for the Memorial Salute to our Troops. The event, sponsored by Griffith Truck and Equipment Co. out of Channelview, will feature the return of the ASCS Sprints.

Also, special purses are being offered to several GTRP fast lane classes. The modifieds and limited modifieds will compete for a $1000 winner’s purse sponsored by Rinehart Racing and Race Engines by C.B. The street and hobby stock classes will compete for $500. For a complete break down of the purses for this race go to “FORMS” on the track web site. Jr. Mini Stocks and Stingers will also take part in the show. This should truly be an event to remember.

 

Last week’s double points race was cancelled due to a “Dry Out”. While we’ve witnessed many “Rainouts” over the years, this was the first time a drought has affected the track. Hopefully it will be the last. Water, which is so important to working in the track surface, has been pumped into the dried up holding pond by the LNVA Canal Authority. It is now full and everything else for this week’s special show is in place and ready to go full speed ahead.

 

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. with the grandstand opening at 6 p.m. Racing action gets underway at 7:45.
