marc200mph
NASCAR lets ads about erection disfunctions, condoms, male inhancement, beer, I could go on...??? That doesn't sound fair, especially when the car counts are low and more coporate money is need to keep teams going.

Jason
Cigarette companies are only allowed to sponsor 1 thing for sports in the US. Thats why for the F1 grand prix Shumacher and Barichello and the Marlboro logos covered by white because they already sponsor the Penske cars in the IRL. A few years ago when Penske ran Cart full time and he ran the Indy 500 his cars were blank because of this. Personally I wish there was a ban on all cigerette advertising and promotions at the race track. Sucks when that idiot fan who got their cigs free is blowing smoke in ur face. NeilTPS
This alcohol sponsorship situation reminds me of the recent TMS-IROC race on Friday night, April 2, 2004. IROC was probably not going to be able to operate in 2004 without a sponsor. IROC marketing got Crown Royal whisky to commit. Before signing, IROC had to receive approval from NASCAR since all of the IROC races are run in conjunction with and on NASCAR weekends. With the various ABC rules being different in states where IROC would race, that was also a consideration. ABC certainly was a major consideration in Texas. That is the reason the race was run on Friday night and not as part of the Saturday Busch or Sunday Nextel NASCAR races. The IROC race was offered to TMS quite late in the scheduling process, but only after IROC secured NASCAR approval to sign Crown Royal. It was only in early January when TMS needed another race on Friday night to support the IROC event. That is when ROMCO received the support race invitation and had to "shoe horn" TMS into their already complete 2004 schedule. Back to ABC rules being different, it seems that either Crown Royal and/or Texas ABC were the reason that the age minimum requirement that was placed on ROMCO only a couple of weeks before the race. The same requirement did not exist in the NASCAR CTS/IRL races on April 3 & 4 or on ROMCO's race at TMS on June 12. Reason: No alcohol connection with the June TMS races, no Crown Royal negative PR possibility in a whisky producer allowing minors to race in their event and no ABC rules - therefore, no age restriction! tooltime34
NASCAR The beginning of the end? With cooperate money drying up Nascar shouldn't look a gift hosre in the mouth. Hello Bruton! Are you out there?
therealLL
J. Burton is always quick to critize NASCAR...he's got a real big mouth...not saying he is right or wrong when he does, but he isn't going to get any love from the France family...Like the dixie chicks...its a free country...you can say what you want, but there's going to be a price...what ever happened to that cute little chubby singer anyway? It doesn't help that Geoff Smith that runs the business side of Roush couldn't get a grand stock sponsored...he must have pictures of Jack Roush hopped up on Smirnoff Ice & Viagra!!!
