I sent an email to WN and told him that this hardcharger business was a statistical fluke. I only passed 3 or 4 cars under green and one of them seemed to have a rr going down. Most of the other cars I finished ahead of were on the rollback! I don't know if it pays anything but I asked him to keep it and forward it to the next guy that blows an engine with my compliments.

My car was brand new and I just drove in circles and stayed out of the way. A big thanks goes to Chase Stapp who was on the other end of the radio and without a doubt had to do more work than any spotter there!

We'll get it figured out and in the interim, The leaders will never have a problem with me.

Thanks

Jay

Congrats to Joey on putting the HOG in the winners circle! :) (Told ya I'd be the first!--inside joke) LMAO

Nice job by Jay and Marc(the racers), Marc's car sure looked nice rolling down the road. Jay you trying to hide your secret weapon? LOL That was me in my work pick-up with all the IMCA/contingency stickers that passed you guys on I-35.

LOL the secret in the secret weapon is still a secret from me. Thanks for the appearance compliment. Our stuff is basically homemade. In it's first race in Houston, we couldn't have hit water with the 19 if we were on the beach. Marc had it on the lead lap for a long time last night and I was proud of him. We did a lot of reengineering on that car and it was great to watch it perform so much better.

I had a feeling that the guy in the truck was somebody we "knew". We will be back to THR in a month. Come by if you're there.

Neil,

Being a decision maker is hard. Most of the time deciding in favor of something or someone is defacto deciding against something or someone else. Wouldn't it be easy if all the choices we had to make were between two great options..."HMMM, let me see, shall I have cake or cookies?"

The ref at the ROSE BOWL football game walks out on the field. There are 22 players on the field, thousands of people in the stands and millions of people watching on TV. When he calls the first infraction, literally half(millions) of fans are mad. Potentially, on the calling of the second penalty, the OTHER half of the people(millions) are equally mad...and it's not like the first group of the people have forgiven the first call.

That's part of the job description for being the ref at the ROSE BOWL. If a person can't handle PO'ing EVERYBODY in as little as two sentences, being the ref is not the job for them.

Let it roll off...there's nothing more "American" than turning around and barking at the ref.

Jay,

One of the can't miss ways race officials know the are doing a good job is when the everybody accuses them of playing favorites for everybody else. Of course, that gets old after a few years, but, like you say, it comes with the territory.

It's just a shame that someone with Neil's integrity and proven track record has to take the amount of pure crap that he does from people inside the sport. It is a rare day indeed when someone like yourself comes up to a race official and says thanks instead of telling that official what a jerk he is. I'm just glad you didnt wait until Neil's funeral to say thanks for all those years of dedication, hard work and, frankly, abuse.

FUNERAL! Gosh that's a little morbid.

Isn't it funny that many people act like saying "Thanks" or "Good job" costs them $1000 per usage when in fact:

a. it's completely free.

b. you have an unlimited supply of both phrases for your personal use.

Hey rebelracewriter, that was you in the truck! Great to see you, now that I know who that was.

Enjoyed running the race, except the last 10 laps, got punted. But 99% of the night was fun. Felt like I was fast enough to race someone. Stayed on the lead lap and was in 8th, looking for a good finish until lap 40. Did anyone get the number of the truck that hit me? LOL. Had to leave town for work first thing monday, car still on the trailer, hurt. Did manage to return and take the checkered flag and finish the race with both cars on the track. Fun after the checker for Jay and I to pull up side by side and wave. Then drive both cars to the pits. Alot of cars didn't manage to drive or even take the checkered. Need to study the rules for restarts, My fault. Thought the race started when Leader took the green. Learn and come back. Thanks for all the help everyone who help Jay and I at the track.

I assume that you are still in Charlotte. I have a foster parents conference in Waco at the Children's Home all Friday and on Sat. morning. I will be back at the shop about 2. My thought is to cut up 19 and access the repair job on Sat. Call my cell if you see it differently.
