CCMS Night at The Fights

Well, it seems the more things change, the more they stay the same...at CCMS that is. Those of you that didn't get to CCMS last night missed a good night...and the racing wasn't bad either! WOW! what a rivarly between the Carlucci's & Stephens...but what a race! IMO both should have been blacked flagged way before the end of the race. It was obvious to everyone that as long as the two stayed on the track, it was going to get ugly...and ugly it did after the race. A full, action-packed night of police(?), pepper spray, Glock 9mm gun pulled, an almost mob riot, assaults on police officers (security?)...everything I go to a race track to see. Plus I am EXTREMELY confused...the Stephens camp left almost immediately, whether told to or not, I am not sure; however, the Carlucci's camp stayed and was there when I left. It has been my observation that when something like this happens, all invovled are escorted to the gate. I am a fan of both camps and consider that I am more than a fan to both, but with what has happened and the apparent non-action taken, does that mean that all of us now have at least one "get out of jail free card" and can go after it with minimum to no repercussions? Anyway, things settled down before I left to a degree, and rumors have started...Stephens won't come back to race, what disciplinary action is to be taken if any, etc., etc., etc.. I hope it works out...I wouldn't want to be in the decision-making chair on this one. Time will tell the story.

Wow, the action in the pits must have been more exciting than the race because you forgot to tell us who won? I remember Dad telling us fight stories from the 70's there, but that was 30 something years ago. That's too bad, it really is. If people have such a will to fight at a local race track, that which by the way does not put food on the table, they should enlist in the Armed Forces. They can fight all they want in Iraq and get paid all at the same time. It's a no LOSE situation.

It becomes a LOSE situation when that person's name is added to an ever growing list of over 800 names. Yeah fighting in the pits and on track is not the way to go but I am sure if you get hot enough in a racecar things happen and you snap. I know Owen won't tolerate it so I bet some fines will be levied.

:o Oops! Sorry...Neither one won...both were sent to the back after some serious "hammering" and after Carlucci Jr, Sr had oil pressure problems early in the race and had to bow out, spun Stephens out, Bill whipped his car around in the infield and heading straight for Carlucci on the front straightaway at the flagstand...thank goodness Carlucci moved or Stephens did or both, because it was at a high rate of speed for both! Stephens was pulled from the race and Carlucci finished next to last, I think.

It was extremely tense in the pits. I couldn't believe the pepper spray was used, it got several innocent bystanders, and an officer(security?) pulled his gun! That's getting pretty extreme! Oh well...I wasn't involved in this one! (whew!)

Greg Jr. moved out of the way and he was slowed down. Stephens was going straight for him and accelerated. And I know everything that went on, since I also got sprayed. If the spraying hadn't of happened, a lot of it wouldn't have happened. Nobody even landed a punch and I doubt anyone would have, with all parties being held back as they were. It was a bad judgement by the security officers by using pepper spray and definately by pulling that gun out. It was the weirdest night ever. I have always liked Bill, but he was just driving crazy. Running someone in the wall or being spun happens in racing whether we like it or not, but there is absolutely NO reason to try and ram someone head on. That is just uncalled for. And when the tape gets reviewed, they will be definate about who was at fault. And as far as I've heard, security guards will no longer be allowed to carry pepper spray or guns at the track. And that's all I am going to say.

:o Can you imagine what it would have been like in the pits if the pepper spray had NOT been used? It would have put the O.K. Corral to shame. As for no pepper spray or guns anymore at the race track? According to the insurance you MUST have ARMED security there.

Yes, I can imagine what it would have been like without the pepper spray, MUCH BETTER. We would have gotten everybody calmed down if it weren't for that. As for Ok Corral, that's such a good comparison since nobody was armed, except the security guards. There was no reason for it. That was the whole reason it got as carried away as it did. I was right there; I know what happened, beginning to end.

I'm sure that track management will do there job and hand out some stiff fines to all involved. It's really sad to see some of the top ones in the super street class acting like they did last nite.Fines and suspension should be given to both these guys to show them that it will not be tolerated at ccms.

what was said was that the pepper spray was used at first to stop 2 people from fighting because they wouldn't listen to security. It was told

that the tire tool incident was after the pepper spray but that the person that picked it up thought twice and put it back down before and thing happened.

what's going to keep somebody from sneaking in a weapon(like a gun)for future incidents-just when the track starts moving in the right direction getting the car count up and people in the stands -crap like this happens-once the reputation gets started about fights/pepper spray/tire irons/guns being pulled/all you will get at the races then are people looking for trouble and they will probably find it-hope it doesnt turn into another yellow belly dragstrip in grand prarie-been a couple of shooting deaths there in the past few years and more fights than espn has had fight nites on tv-maybe greg jr should of let the guy hit hit and then had him arrested for assault with a deadly weapon-cause it sounds like he was trying to assault him with his car but missed-i've heard of that being done at race tracks before-and one even got a cash settlement for his injuries after being rammed from behind after a race was over-as for doing something for last nite-rest of the year suspension or forever-people like that -the sport dont need-just my 2 pennies

But stephens was gona ram him head on not from behind. But luckly that didn't happen.Bill should have been escourted out the gate when the trouble started in the infield, as everyone saw he was even given doc alot of trouble in the infield, at that point owen and doc should have told him to load up and leave that track before the super street race was over that way none of that stuff would have happen in the pits. stephens crew should have not started crap with carlucci's crew. jmo

Bad things happen to good friends when tempers flare up while racing. Greg Jr. And Bill have been good friends long before either one of them started racing. It is ashame to see things happen like this between any racers but ,when they are good friends it makes it even worse. I am team mates with Greg Jr. and Greg Sr. and also good friends with Bill and his family .It was hard to believe all the stuff that happened last night. I know both guys have tempers and don't like to have their cars torn up. I hope to see both Bill and Greg Jr. back racing next week.

As far as the track taken the correct action ,Owen has done a good job running the track this year and he will do what is right.

That's my two cents .

I do agree with what you said about Jr and Bill, but i think they could have worked it out differently then the way it went down at the track. Yes everyone would like to see them out there again but maybe they should both be given some cool off time before getting back on the track. They are both excellent racers and lots of the fans like them both. JMO,but i think they should be one of the ones to set the example for the other drivers especially the ones just starting out. It's kind of like the saying"Do as i say not as i do" which is not good. Well anyway except for the mishap the racing nite was good. Hope to see more great racing next week.Hope everything gets settled between Bill & Greg.

I've always liked Bill and have never had a problem with him, but he wasn't himself. He was out of control. I agree that he should have been escorted off the track before the end of that race. There was no tire iron, check your facts and that stuff never would have happened if they could have both kept their cool. I don't know why Bill acted the way he did, but all the Carlucci's did was react. That doesn't excuse their behavior, but if you weren't there, you will never understand what happened and how it happened. It all happened so fast and tempers were flaring and we were all just trying to protect one another. And by the way, Greg Jr. was slow on the front stretch because he saw Bill coming but didn't want to move too soon because he was anticipating Bill's move and he wanted to be able to avoid the collision. And tylanic, Bill was using his entire car as a dealy weapon. Think about that.
