NeilTPS Posted June 17, 2004 Report Share Posted June 17, 2004 I-37 Speedway to host US Iraq Wounded June 18 Pleasanton, Texas - This Friday night June 18th, I-37 Speedway will host 30 United States servicemen who were wounded in Iraq. The military personnel are patients at Brooke Army Medical Center and will be transported to I-37 Speedway by BAMC bus. They will be guests of I-37 Speedway starting June 18 and every Friday night thereafter. The Salem-Sayers Baptist Church of Adkins will provide complimentary drinks. Complimentary food is being provided by the following area sponsors: Hurley Auto Parts and Hurley Funeral Home of Pleasanton. Atascosa Dodge Sears of Pleasanton Pursch Motors Jack’s Corner Store of Elmendorf Robert Garza – patriotic citizen This project was organized by Jim Phillips. The I-37 Speedway racing program will present five racing classes: IMCA Modifieds…Super Stocks…Limited Late Model…Pure Stocks and a special appearance by the South Texas Mini Sprint Cars Heat and Feature Races will be held for each classification. In addition, “Train Races” will cap the evening’s entertainment Gates will open at 4:00pm. The racing program starts at 8:30pm. I-37 Speedway is a quarter mile oval dirt track located on the east side I-37 exactly 30 miles south of the Interstate 37 and Loop 410 interchange. Racing fans from San Antonio, Corpus Christi and other South Texas areas should take exit # 104 (Leal Road) proceed south on the east frontage road and follow signs to I-37 Speedway.
