Last year this was of the better shows I attended and not just because the lone, Lone Star driver won. JMH

The Challenge is On… Are You Ready??

For over 15 years, Butch Speicher, owner and promoter of I-76 Speedway in Fort Morgan, Colorado, has provided a venue for some of the best racing in the state. On any given Saturday during race season you will find Late Models, Modifieds, Sprint Cars, and more thundering around the track. His annual Fall Classic draws over 150 cars and packs the stands and drivers from out of state drive for miles to get a taste of the speedway.

Last year, Speicher and Shoshana Surek, owner and editor of DIRT-Colorado’s Dirt Track Magazine, presented The $10,000 to Win DIRT Magazine Modified Challenge. The race paid more to win to any one driver in any one division on dirt or asphalt (non-NASCAR sanctioned) in Colorado history. Drivers from eighteen states (another Colorado first) and fans from over ten states filled the speedway’s grandstands and pit area for the show which proved to be some of the best racing many had ever seen.

Once again, Speicher and Surek are holding The $10,000 to Win DIRT Magazine Modified Challenge. This year the purse was raised through the bottom places and more money is being offered to non-qualifiers.

By now you have heard the stories if you missed last year’s show. Don’t let that happen again! 2004 promises to be just as exciting, with drivers from nine states already registered and a field once again full of champions.

Be there on Thursday, July 15th for hot laps as drivers try out their tires on the track. Grandstand admission is FREE and this is an ideal time to meet your favorite drivers, buy a t-shirt before they’re all gone and take advantage of some early-bird specials (T-shirts for only $8!). We will have prizes and giveaways on Thursday for the loyal fans who come out to support the drivers from day one.

Friday is a night you don’t want to miss! The first night of qualifiers that determines drivers’ positions in the final qualifiers on Saturday and determines the first rows of the $10,000 to Win Main Event. The racing on Friday night last year was amazing, the competition was fierce and the weather was beautiful! Not even a tornado warning could get in the way of what turned out to be some of the best racing of the evening. DIRT Magazine will once again give away lots of goodies, from t-shirts and hats, and a few surprises. We will give away over $2000 in prizes on Friday. That, along with awesome driving, tells you that Friday is a night you truly can’t miss.

Saturday will be the day that some lucky driver walks away with $10,000 in his or her pocket. Support your favorites and cheer on the local drivers (that represented a large majority of the field last year, beating out national champions!). We will once again have lots of giveaways and a special Saturday night drawing for a prize worth over $100!

All Modified drivers in Colorado should come and try their luck. There is something to say for a hometown advantage and supporting local big races brings more money to your weekly shows and purses. Only 125 cars can register and there is still room. Do not wait until race day to enter!

Register online at www.coloradodirt.net or call 303-420-1451 for more information about registration, lodging, and how your business can sponsor the Challenge for only $100! For technical or regulation questions, call Butch Speicher at 970-867-2101.

Colorado will be making history once again, it is up to us to support the race by being there to cheer on our amazing local drivers!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thursday the track will be open at 4:00 pm for early tech and hot laps. Grandstand admission is FREE and pit passes are only $15.

Friday, July 16th, the pit gates will open at 2:00 pm and racing will begin at 6:00. Get there early since space fills up FAST! Grandstands open at 5:00. Grandstands are $10 and pit passes are $25.

Saturday, July 17th, the pit gates will open at 2:00 pm and racing will begin at 6:00. Again, get there early. Grandstands open at 5:00. Grandstand tickets are $12, Pit passes are $25.

Because The Challenge is so close (July 15-17), I've added Paypal to my site!!!!!

You can now register online and then pay using your check card or any credit card through Paypal! I didn't charge extra, it's still just 200 per car, but it's much easier than having to send a check. Only 125 can enter... so this is the easiest, fastest, and most ensured way to do it! Just FYI, of course you can still send checks or money orders, this is just an added option.

Go to www.coloradodirt.net and enter the site. It says "to pay online click here" and then just fill out the reg form, hit submit, and click Buy Now.
