Jamie
As promised here, I am posting some of my pictures. It was a three day show with the best of the best showing up. 99 dirt modifieds signed in including 2010's USMTS National Champion, Jason Hughes, and IMCA National Champion Zane DeVilbiss. 9 time USMTS National Champion Kelly Shryock and several other series champions also participated over the three days. There could only be one winner and he would walk away with $10,000 for his three days of labor. All-in-all there was well over 175 total vehicles that participated and they all put on one heck of a show. Now, to the pictures: Ryan Gustin (19r) and Sherman Barnett drag racing into turn one. Sherman is 70+ years old, the owner of Barnett Harley Davidson in El Paso, TX and part owner of the speedway. He also raced in another class. Ryan is the youngest driver ever to win a USMTS event at 17 years old; he was also the winningest on the tour this year. Corey Dripps (31) and Hunter Radson (5). Corey is going to be one of the drivers featured in the Versus television series Dirt Knights. They would also run as pictured on the third day in the last chance qualifier and finish 1st and 2nd respectively. Holly Jones (121) and father Royal Jones (131) racing hard side by side. Royal is also part owner in the speedway and part owner in a trucking business. He also has a son, Bumper Jones, who raced this same weekend. Not quite sure who the driver is and it's not the best panning shot, but it shows the abuse of the left rear tire even on a dirt track. Carnage of racing a "C" main to transfer to "B" main and hopefully to the "A" main for a chance at $10,000. 24 cars started this 20 lap race and 11 would finish. There was also one other car, Hunter Radson, involved that isn't in this frame. It was an extremely hard driven race by all and what some would call "a racing incident". The car on it's side is Christy Georges (44). After a quick check of the car in the pits, she was able to continue and transfer to the "B" Main. She is also the wife of Sherman Barnett. Rodney Sanders (20) making a pass of Tommy Weder Jr. (02) in the middle of turns 3 and 4. This would be the pass that would put Rodney in the lead and he would become the eventual winner of the $10,000 for first place. Tommy started on the outside pole and had a huge lead on the field until a caution came; Rodney started 20th. When there is a winner there HAS to be a trophy girl(s) . This is young, 20 years old, Rodney claiming his winnings! The rest of my shots can be seen here under the 2010 Fall National galleries. C&C welcomed please.
