Is the 602 a competitive LM engine?

With talk of whats coming up in the next season I think I want to wipe the dust off the late model and run at HMP. My delima is I dont have a crate. I have a Ford open engine.( car is ready to go) I was thinking about buying a cheap 602 to thow in since I dont want to drop 7-8 k on a for ford crate and by the time I buy all the pulleys bells and whistles for a 604 it would be close to that amount of change also.Seems a good used 602 might be ok moneywise to run a limited schedule next year but even with the weight breaks I'm not sure it has a very good chance. I will only run maybe half the races since its a long drive to houston. I'd run it at thr but I dont want to reclip and take out the r&p.(re-engineer it to be less competitive-sorry not in me)It will be mostly about fun but getting lapped isnt fun.Any thoughts from the LM drivers crews that run...
