Three PASS titles still up for grabs

NAPLES ME 10/2) The 2010 Pro All Stars Series (PASS) racing schedule is winding down, but there is still the PASS SLM South championship to be decided when the PASS South Super Late Models take to the track for the Mason-Dixon Meltdown on Saturday, October 16.

Newport (TN) Speedway will be the setting for this year’s Meltdown. It’s also the PASS South finale, and the Championship battle is about as tight as it gets between point leader Ryan Blaney and Preston Peltier. The pair has fought tooth and nail all season long and after twelve events Blaney is in front of Peltier by a scant four point margin. Blaney already has a 2010 Newport win under his belt, and he will look for more of the same Saturday. But Peltier will bring the battle to Blaney and his hard charging style guarantees an exciting season finale.

The Mason-Dixon Meltdown is the final round of the five race PASS National Championship, a trail that has led from Florida to North Carolina, Connecticut and Maine before the racers chasing that title head for the Volunteer state. Preston Peltier is on top of the National standings but 2010 PASS North super late model champion Johnny Clark is only eleven points back, followed by two time Newport winner Jay Fogleman. Clark has already indicated that he will make the trip to Newport to battle it out with Peltier and Fogleman for the title.

There’s an optional Mason-Dixon Meltdown practice session on Friday, October 15 from 12:00 to 3:00 PM and 6:00 to 7:00 PM. On race day October 16 practice gets underway at 12:00, time trials wave off at 4:00 PM and the racing goes green at 5:15 PM.
