NickHolt
Texas Super Racing Series Public Relations Office (512) 784-3026 * Series Information Line (512) 899-2602 Press Office Phone (281) 482-6798 * Press Office Fax (281) 648-4601 For Immediate Release: Corpus Christi Motor Speedway Hosts Texas Super Racing Series June 1, 2004 By Pat Mayberry The stars of the Texas Super Racing Series are set to invade the legendary quarter mile oval of Corpus Christi Motorspeedway this Saturday night, June 5, 2004. This will be the second visit this season to Corpus Christi for the drivers and teams. "We are so excited to be back at this legendary track where so many former Texas legends have raced," stated series director and founder, Mary Ann Naumann. "Of all the Texas tracks, Corpus Christi has the most loyal fan base around! They love good short track racing and that is what they get at CCMS, along with the great management, what more can they ask for!" The tight confines of CCMS made for some exciting racing on the first visit this season as Houstonian, Mike Yale, captured his first of two wins this season. Yale enters into this race with a thirty-five-point lead over Beau Bukowski. Bukowski took home a fourth place finish in March and will be looking at closing the gap on Yale. The 75-lap feature event will also be the first race where the new "All green racing" rule will be enforced. Series founder, Mary Ann Naumann, explained the new rule, "Race fans want to see green flag racing and that what we plan to give them, race fans like the crashes, but not the time that they sometimes take to get cleaned up, so any long clean ups, we plan to make every effort to do what we can do to insure, we save the laps for racing!" Gates open at 6:00PM with qualifying begins at 7:15PM. Racing will start at 8:00PM. Guest The_Greek
The 75-lap feature event will also be the first race where the new "All green racing" rule will be enforced. (unlike Romco who couldnt re-schedule a rain-out race at SAS) but thats a whole another story.
Jason
The rainout schedule at SAS is a lot more complicated than switching to all green flag laps! Your comparisons are just downright (Edited by self after Nick got on me lol). ROMCO rents SAS for the night. They had a ton of rain there for so long and the local classes have to start racing and have so many races to participate in the NASCAR weekly prize money. I think the money coming in to the drivers at SAS is a little more important to the track than rescheduling a ROMCO series race in which the local guys get nothing but a bad cold waiting to go racing. Again let me emphasize that local weekly classes are much more important to racing and to the tracks than the racing series that tour these tracks. Good luck Saturday night with the races and hopefully those who attend get a show.
