rebelracewriter Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 NCRA Late Models Close Out 2010 Saturday During Annual Cornhusker Classic at I-80 Speedway FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Midwest City, Oklahoma – September 20, 2010 - The 27th season for the O’Reilly/NCRA late model division will come to a close this coming Saturday night as the series heads to I-80 Speedway at Nebraska Raceway Park for the 2010 rendition of the annual running of the “Cornhusker Classic.” This one day event will pay $3000 to the feature finale winner with all drivers making the “A” feature earning $400. As has been the case in years past, the Missouri based Lucas Oil MLRA late model series will join forces with NCRA for this event. Unofficially, there has only been one repeat winner for this fifth annual event with Kelly Boen having reaching victory lane twice (’09, ’05). Other drivers earning victories include Kyle Berck (’08) and John Hampell (’07). It will be an anti-climactic end to the season and the points chase as Boen has already wrapped up his fifth season championship but looks to add to his season career victory total as he will be gunning for his thirteenth series victory on the 2010 trail. The Henderson, Colorado veteran is currently third in career series victories (55), trailing only outlaw sprint car driver Gary Wright of Hooks, Texas (80) and Cimarron, Kansas veteran Garry Lee Maier (65). Corey Zeitner of Omaha, Nebraska has nailed down the runner up position in the series point standings while Lincoln, Nebraska youngster Jase Kaser has solidified the third position in the point standings and rookie of the year honors. Former two-time series champion Al Purkey of Coffeyville, Kansas has all but wrapped up fourth in the point standings while Atlantic, Iowa’s Jason O’Brien and Soloman, Kansas driver Wylan Petrie are still in contention for fifth in the point standings with O’Brien holding on to a 20 point advantage. Pit gates for this Saturday night event will open at noon with the grandstands opening at 5:00 PM. Hot laps begin at 6:00 PM with races scheduled to start at 7:00 PM. Adult general admission tickets are just $20 while juniors ages 6-15 get in for $8.00. Kids five and under will be admitted free. I-80 Speedway is located between Omaha and Lincoln off Interstate 80, exit 420 in Greenwood, Nebraska.
