Bob and Triston Sikes are on a roll

 

EUNICE, N.M. -- Bob, Bubba and Triston Sikes of Eunice N.Mex., posted wins

in all three sanctioned IMCA classes at Basin Speedway Park in Odessa, Tx..,

on 5/7/04, Bob winning the Modifieds, Bubba winning the I- Stock's and

Triston winning the Hobby Stocks. Bob and Triston went on to win their

Classes at Basin as well on 5/14/04 and repeating the wins and Cardinal

Motor Speedway in Eunice 5/15/04.

 

After Mothers Day week-end off, Racers in West Texas , and Eastern New

Mexico were ready to resume racing Saturday nights at Cardinal. Twenty- two

IMCA Modified's collected to make the feature races a full field.

 

With #101 Butch Reid and #12 Slade Johnston on the front row, the green flag

flew and Butch Reid took the lead and Slade on his bumper, #16 Bob Sikes in

his Skyrocket Chassis race car started on the outside sixth row, but was

moving to the front, #101 and #12, battled for several laps , Butch Reid was

holding on to the top spot while #8 Ken Couch and #16 Bob Sikes got a run

going and they moved to the front.

 

The race moved quickly with a minimum of restarts, while Ken Couch and Bob

Sikes had moved to 3rd and fourth respectively , with 5 laps left in the

race #16 Bob Sikes made an inside pass to take 2nd , and made a charge after

#101 Butch Reid , on the white flag lap . Bob Sikes made a side by side move

in turn 4 to take the win by inches that had the grandstand's cheering for

such a close finish.
