Beaumont, Texas (7/3/10) - Hurricane Alex rained out the Golden Triangle Raceway holiday racing celebration last week, but now fans can look forward to extreme Friday night action as double points are being offered to all contenders. As we enter the middle of the 2010 racing season, the results of a double points’ night can change the outcome of class championships.

In addition to the fast lane competition, our young race fans will also have a chance to compete on the track in the monthly Box Car Race for Kids. Held during intermission, children 12 years old and younger, race in cars they’ve built out of cardboard boxes. The race has two main rules: (1) Each contestant MUST wear tennis shoes and socks. (2) There MUST be one adult crew member per child to take part in a mid race pit stop. If a child can not provide their own crew member, officials will find them one. Fun and prizes.

“Race for a Cure” t-shirts and raffle tickets will be on sale at the track this week in conjunction with the American Cancer Society fund raiser coming up on Friday, July 16th. The race that week will feature: ASCS Sprints, Modifieds, Limited Mods., Jr. Minis, Pure & Hobby Stocks. There will also be a parade and car show for VW enthusiast.

Golden Triangle Raceway Park is located on W. Hwy. 90 between Beaumont and China, Texas. Pit gates open at 4 p.m and grandstand opens at 6:00. Hot laps start at 7:30 and we go racing at 8:00.
