Elliott rolls to Dart Iron Man Challenge checkers at Fort Dodge

FORT DODGE, Iowa (June 22) – Mark Elliott of Webster City, Iowa, made it four winners in four races Tuesday when he topped the Dart Iron Man Challenge main event at the Mineral City Speedway in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Elliott beat his younger brother, Greg Elliott, to the finish line to take the win and pocket the $600 winner’s share of the purse for the full-fendered USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars.

Fort Dodge driver Jeremy Crimmins took the third spot, inaugural Dart Iron Man Challenge race winner Nathan Wood of Sigourney finished fourth and Round 2 winner Mike Van Genderen of Newton rounded out the top-5 finishers.

Veteran Steve Jackson of Polk City, Iowa, who won Saturday’s Round 3 contest at the Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, Mo., snared the sixth spot, Churdan’s Jason Minnehan raced to seventh after starting 20th, Mike Bergan of Ridgeway garnered the eighth-place paycheck, Mark Haglund of Webster City wound up ninth and Roland’s Ryan Leeman was the tenth driver to cross the finish line.

After a nearly six-week hiatus with no action in the month of July, the Dart Iron Man Challenge will get back to serious business when August rolls around.

Five events in six days kicks off the month of August, beginning Sunday, Aug. 1, at the Nobles County Speedway in Worthington, Minn. After taking Monday off, the too-tough-to-tame USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars race on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Aug. 3-6, at the Algona (Iowa) Raceway, Cresco (Iowa) Speedway, Jackson (Minn.) Speedway and Murray County Speedway in Slayton, Minn.

In all, 14 dates at 12 premier speedways throughout Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri dot the calendar for the 2010 campaign as the ultra-competitive and exciting USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars accompany the popular USMTS Modifieds at each of the events.

Made possible by support from Dart Machinery and Allstar Performance, all races will pay $600 to win and $125 to start the main event with 21 or more entries in the field. The ten-race points fund will carry a $1,000 top prize with the tenth-place finisher earning $100.

Dart will award a $75 certificate to the winner of each event and a $50 certificate to the ninth-place finisher, and each event will have a qualifying format similar to the USMTS, with heat race passing points determining the “B” Main and “A” Main line-ups.

In addition, each race will award national points in the USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Car division of the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series where the national champion will earn $700.
