Scott Lewis wins two in a row with DIRTcar Colorado Weekly Late Model Series

Scott Lewis of Henderson, CO remains perfect in DIRTcar Colorado Weekly Late Model Series action winning his second race in a row at Colorado Motorsports Park. The track was a dry slick one lane track and pole sitter Craig Baukama of Elizabeth, CO jumped out to the early lead and led until lap number 5, but was under heavy pressure from Scott Lewis who started 4th and was in 2nd place by lap two. On lap 5 coming off of turn four Baukama slipped up the track just enough to allow Lewis to get under him going into turn one and he took over the lead going down the back stretch. There were several cautions, but Lewis was able to hold on for the win followed by Baukama in 2nd, Jason Davis from Grand Junction, CO in 3rd, Jason Schierkolk of Casper, WY in 4th, and Mike Cox of Littleton, CO rounding out the top 5.

 

This was also a UMP DIRTcar CO/WY/KS Region Late Model points race and Jason Schierkolk and Scott Lewis who were 2nd and 3rd in regional points coming into todays race took advantage of point leader Dave Garmann not making it to the race. With todays win Lewis has taken over the UMP DIRTcar CO/WY/KS Region Late Model Points lead with 341 points and Schierkolk remained in 2nd but is only 2 points behind Lewis with 339 points. Dave Garmann slipped to 3rd with 281 points. It is shaping up to be a great points battle.
