Antioch Speedway - June 19th - $5,000 To Win Modifieds

(May 19, 2010) Antioch, Calif. – Oval Motorsports, the promoters of Antioch Speedway, has just announced a huge Open Wheel Modified show on Saturday, June 19, 2010. The Modifieds will be running a 50 lap feature and includes a purse that will exceed $20,000, with $5,000 going to the winner. All feature starters are guaranteed to earn at least $400.

 

Entry forms and rules can be found at: http://www.DirtModifiedRacer.com/antioch.pdf. To enter the race, racers should pre-enter before the deadline of June 9th. Pre-entry for the race is $100 but will increase to $150 after the June 9th deadline or on race day.

 

This huge Modified spectacular falls on Father’s Day weekend and also coincides the same weekend that NASCAR Sprint Cup runs at nearby Infineon Raceway. In previous years, Antioch Speedway has had NASCAR stars on hand competing, including Dave Blaney, Kenny Wallace and Kenny Schrader. As of yet, the speedway has not confirmed any NASCAR stars but you never know who might show up.

 

The one day show will feature all drivers drawing for heat race starting positions, with no time trials. The heats will use a passing point system, where drivers can earn more points by passing, giving drivers who may draw a poor starting position a chance to race their way into the feature. The tentative format will have the top 10 point earners guarantee themselves a spot in the feature. The remaining cars will be divided into one of several B Mains, which are lined up based on points earned in the heats. The B Main will fill the final 8 starting spots in the feature. B Main payouts will be determined based on total car count.

 

Antioch Speedway is a 3/8th mile, semi-banked clay oval, located at the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds in Antioch, California.
