rebelracewriter Posted May 13, 2010 Report Share Posted May 13, 2010 Southern Iowa Speedway rained out for Wednesday, May 12 OSKALOOSA, Iowa (May 12) – Extremely wet conditions and cold temperatures have forced officials to cancel the opening night events for Wednesday, May 12, at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Opening night at the Mahaska County Monster will now be next Wednesday, May 19, with the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series featuring Musco USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars, Carter's International USRA B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks, plus the first of several appearances this season by the Karl Chevrolet Dirt Truck Series. Pits will open at 5 p.m., grandstands open at 5:30, hot laps begin at 7:15 and the first heat race starts at 7:30. General admission grandstand tickets are just $8 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6-12 and pit passes are $25. Children under 6 are always admitted free of charge. Osky officials also announced today that if Mother Nature interferes again next Wednesday, then Thursday night, May 20, will be used as a rain date for the season-opening event. Defending track champions at the Southern Iowa Speedway are Brad Pinkerton of New Sharon (Musco USRA Modifieds), Matt Greiner of Washington (USRA Stock Cars), Tyler Groenendyk of Oskaloosa (Carter’s International USRA B-Mods) and Nathan Wood of Keswick (USRA Hobby Stocks). The Southern Iowa Speedway is a half-mile semi-banked clay oval located 0.5 mile west of US 63 on SR 92, then 0.3 mile north on I St. (at the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds).
