rebelracewriter
Kirchoff Doubles Up in Dodge City by Dusty Wiegert DODGE CITY, Kan. -- For the second night in a row it was the same driver donning a cowboy hat and a pair of six shooters in victory lane. That driver, Wyoming's Eddie Kirchoff, picked up the $1500 and the clean sweep on the weekend with a dominating win in Saturday night's main event at the Six Shooter Showdown at Dodge City Raceway Park. It was Kirchoff's second career Midwest DIRTcar Late Model Series victory in as many nights. The race was co-sanctioned by the Colorado Late Model Association DIRTcar Series, of which Kirchoff now holds the points lead in the early season. Kirchoff drew the final spot, #12, in the redraw at intermission but made quick work of the field en route to the Championship win. The major battle of the night developed between Jason Schierkolk, Delbert Smith, and Scott Lewis. Each took their turns at each other with them rounding out the top 4 simultaneously. Pole-sitter David Brack picked up his first top 5 of the season with a 5th place finish. Kirchoff also picked up the win in the Alternative Pest Management Cash Dash, his second on the weekend. The Midwest DIRTcar Late Model Series is back in action next Saturday night at the Minneapolis Raceway in Minneapolis, Kansas for their first of 3 appearances on the season at the 3/8 mile. Forsberg started from the pole and quickly jumped into a commanding lead before Justin Kinderknecht caught him. The two young hot shoes would run side by side for a majority of the feature with each taking turns at the front of the pack. A lengthy caution with only a couple laps remaining brought some drama for the 5/8 scale modifieds as their 3 gallon fuel tanks started getting empty with running 25 laps and numerous caution laps. As the race restarted Kinderknecht did everything he could to get back by Forsberg but to no avail. Forsberg crossed the stripe first while Bud Lee worked around Kinderknecht to finish second, Kinderknecht third, and Ethan Houlton fourth.
