NickHolt
Last Friday, everyone was glad to be back after Mother Nature sidelined racing for 3 weeks. Modifieds and Limited Modifieds were competing for extra cash in their purse. Two guys with the same last name (Willis) walked away with the honors. Adam Willis, came across the bayou from Louisiana and captured the Modified checkered while Howard Willis of Dayton took over the number one spot in the Limited feature with only five laps remaining in the race. Howard, who was also raced a new Modified car, was Adam’s runner-up. Limited Modified driver Howard Willis with his car owner, Mike Murray, in the GTRP victory lane. Kevin Kelley chalked up his first feature win in the Hobby Stock class with Keith Lee Jr. running a close second. Stuart Sandoz, padded his points lead in the Street Stock class, by winning the “A” and finishing second to Bubba Morgan in one of the two heat races. Track newcomer, Phillip Clemmons of Bridge City, also won a heat, but had to bow out of the feature after being involved in a fender bender. With his hood flapping in the wind, Kasey Holden held off Rett Staner for the Pure Stock win. It was also an exciting night for rookie driver, Tyler Harris who posted his first feature win in the Jr. Mini Stock class. At the same time, Harris moved up into the point lead in his division.
