James Buescher Looks to Add Another Nashville Guitar to Trophy Collection

DATE: APRIL 3, 2010 (225 LAPS, 300 MILES)

BUESCHER AT NASHVILLE… Buescher has made two career starts at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway – his first in the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards in 2008, followed by his second last season (2009) in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Two seasons ago in the ARCA Racing Series event, Buescher started from the third position and finished in 17th-place after a late race accident forced the driver to the rear of the field. Last year, the Texas native started the Truck Series race from the 16th position, but faced an ill-handling truck, relegating the driver to a 17th-place effort.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY… Last Friday as the NASCAR Nationwide Series enjoyed a weekend away from the track, Buescher celebrated his 20th birthday at his Texas home with family and friends.

DOUBLE DUTY… This weekend at Nashville, Buescher will pull double duty, as he competes in both the Truck Series and Nationwide Series events on Friday and Saturday respectively. Buescher will pilot the No. 90 Great Clips entry for Stringer Motorsports in his 2010 NCWTS debut on Friday, in addition to his full-time effort in the No. 1 Phoenix Racing Chevrolet on Saturday.

POINTS CHECK… After the completion of four races, Buescher currently sits in the 16th position in the NASCAR Nationwide Series championship driver point standings. The 20-year-old is 55 points behind 10th-place Brian Vickers and only four points behind 15th-place Michael Annett. In addition, Buescher remains the leader of the Raybestos Rookie of the Year point standings, holding a three point lead over second-place Brian Scott.

LOOKING BACK… Two weeks ago at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway, Buescher rolled off the starting grid from the 12th position. In his first Nationwide Series start at “The World’s Fastest Half-Mile” Buescher quickly moved into the top-10 by the completion of lap one. Six laps later, Buescher and another competitor made contact, which resulted in front and rear damage. The No. 1 Chevrolet came to pit road under green twice for fresh right-side tires and fender repairs, losing a total of 12 laps to the leaders. On lap 124, Buescher and a fellow competitor made contact, resulting in major damage to the Chevrolet. After assessing the damage behind the wall, Buescher and his Phoenix Racing crew’s day was ended short, as they left Thunder Valley with a 36th-place finish.

DID YOU KNOW?... Buescher has already won a coveted guitar trophy in Nashville. In 2005 at the Music City Motorplex, located at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in Nashville, the youngster drove a Legends car to Victory Lane, claiming the one-of-a-kind trophy.

TWEET OF THE WEEK… To celebrate his 20th birthday, Buescher tweeted on March 26th a picture of Memphis’ famous Rendezvous ribs with the message “Tonight’s dinner! These are the best!” The young gun orders the ribs to his house to cook occasionally, as Rendezvous was a must-stop restaurant on his schedule when racing in Memphis, Tenn. STAY UP TO SPEED… The Nashville 300 from Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway will take the green flag this Saturday, April 3rd at 4 P.M. Eastern. Race coverage will be televised live on ESPN, beginning at 3:30 PM Eastern. In addition, Motor Racing Network (MRN) and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio (Channel 128) will have the live radio broadcast, beginning at 3:30 PM Eastern.

BUESCHER (On racing at Nashville Superspeedway): “Pulling double-duty at Nashville is going to be a lot of fun. Running in the Nationwide car for Phoenix Racing is my primary focus for the year but I definitely enjoy going back and racing in the Truck Series. Making my first Truck start of this season for Stringer Motorsports is exciting and I want to thank them for the opportunity. Both series have a decent amount of solid competition and hopefully we will be able to capture one if not two Gibson guitars. The guitar trophy is one that everyone sets their eyes on and I would love to have another one. I won one in my Legends car days and it is definitely one of the cooler trophies that I have in my collection.”
