Started with: "ASK NOT WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU ..BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY"

Leaning towards: "Ask not what YOU can do for your COUNTRY, But what your COUNTRY can for YOU!"

Going to end up with: "Ask not what You can do for your country, But rather what your Government will do to you"

Stock car racing harms the environment about as much as farting cows

Actually, much more damage to the environment is done by the methane produced by farting cows; that and Big John and R.L. after a Chili cookoff........

Funny thing.....months and months ago "someone" said the same thing about becoming a socialist society.....For that I got my ass handed to me publically on here, and in private messages, plus having a few of my posts pulled......I

Yeah, you got roasted my friend, but you were right, and not afraid to say it. I thank you for that.

Funny, Jay, where is all the pro-Obama rhetoric now?? And all the guys who bashed you last year?

I'm not hearing it anywhere.......

And no matter what anyone thinks, Obama is not the only problem in Fantasy Land (D. C.)

Pelosi is the new Hillary.

Obama is not the only problem in Fantasy Land

You're absolutely correct Tom......It's progressives, plus all the Marxist, Communist loving appointees now in the cabinet/czars.....and YES some of it goes back to the end of Bush 2 also.....But at least he wasn't trying to run car companies, banks, industries, etc......though we'll never know for sure now.

where is all the pro-Obama rhetoric now

The girl I've been dating for a while is a life-long Democrat, even went to the Messiahs ball in San Antonio......but she isn't happy with him now....

At one of the part-time jobs I work at the manager(an African-American lady).....doesn't like Obama now....

At the other place I work....well......He still thinks global warming is real.....I'm giving him all my $200+ electric bills for the past winter since it was so "warm!"

That seems to echo the sentiment of the people 2-1 against all this big goverment, liberal, progressive bureaucracy and all their policies, bills, reforms.....

So much for the will of the people..... <_<

It seem to me that about the time the left wingers kicked God out of the schools, outlawed the 10 Commandments in the court room, banned public prayer and in general told God to take a hike, things started to fall apart around here. And now that we have a president that has publicly stated that the United States is not a Christian country, it's no wonder we're in the state we're in.

OK, it's "racing related" because it won't be all that long before race tracks will be ordered to stop having prayers during the opening ceremonies...

Nick

And that's when I stop going.

I wouldn't stop going - but I would not stop praying. Actually you would hear my prayer over the start of the engines.

We all know how Obama got elected. On the back of misconceptions and vague promises spreading through the rumor mills - coupled with the perception that the Republicans had and would continue to screw things up (not far from truth - but not as bad as the media portrayed it during the elections either).

For all of November and December of the election year my (tax prep) offices recieved three times the normal call volume. The question was always the same - when will we get the 1000 stimulus check now that Obama is president. Most of the callers were quite upset to find that they were not getting a check (no one ever was - there were implications but always stopped short of an actual campaign promise - but boy that "vote for Obama and he will get you a 1000 tax rebate" rumor sure drove the votes) - most had already commited to spending it!

Not bashing the man - he knows there are things that are not working right and he has the cajones to do something about it. I just firmly believe his values - especially how much responsibility each person bears for his own destiny including failures - contradicts my own.

Whats really sad about this HC bill is that it IS going to cost us all more. A 25k hospital bill will cost the consumer - any benefit paid out over 8500 is now taxable income at a flat 20%. I put a pencil to it - If you pay the average premiums on a 100 ER copay and 3k deductable plan for 5 years then hit the ICU with a 25k bill - the end NET cost to you is 38k (this does not factor the potential tax savings on a schd A - but the bill increased the threshold from 7.5 to 10% of AGI - and here in Texas generally speaking if you do not own your home (or do not have it mortgaged) you do not have enough to itemize anyway). Of that the ins co, hospital and doctors make the same - the big winner is the IRS as they collect the 20% on the 12400 "excess" benefit. That 8500 is for a single person - for a family it 10000. So obviously a "family tax" was just created less than 8 years after getting out of the old "marriage penalty". This is what the largest point of the legal challenges will target.

What chaps me is that extra 18K it cost in the above scenario is there to help the guy who continually curses the dark rather than light a candle. Reagan said it best - "our poor and homeless are there by choice". Not that they directly CHOSE to be in that plight - but rather their messed up choices have messed up consequences and I just do not believe that someone who is careful and thinks thing thru (like completeing your education and thus increasing your earnings potential for example) should not have to pick up the bill for those that don't!

Nick,

With all due respect I would not throw my hat into that ring. I have been asked to run for City Counsel, Mayor and even had a local neighbor who IS an elected state official ask me to join his team to groom me for a future in politics. Politics are not my best point - hopefully you will never see entirely why (although many of my comments are public record at City Hall as I am not afraid to speak publically) - the short of it is I am not afraid to speak my mind and sometimes (or more precisly usually) my direct and blunt choice of words ends up offending the very folks whose support I would need.

But if you still want to donate my home address works fine.

Yea but I have a special knack for it...example during open meeting:

Person A (a female), "I am vehemently opposed to allowing that company to build here in our town"

Person B "I think your position lacks even the basics of an educated approach - we would be stupid to miss this opportunity"

Person A "I am NOT stupid - for your information I am a member of MENSA"

Me "well if you would quit MENSA-Trating all over us you would see the financial possiblities this project brings for our county" - up til that point I had her 25% on my side most of the time - now she would vote against her own motions if I showed any support...

And I thought I was the only one to vote against my own motions. I'm famous for it.

I moved to convert our test procedures to operate per metric units, instead of English units. At that time (years ago), the big 3 were pushing the automotive test labs to convert to metric. After hours of debate, I finally made the motion to convert to metric. This was politically the right thing to do. And like most motions on the floor, it passed. But I did vote against my own motion. ;)

I like the metric system. When we are driving across country I will set my caddy to display metric as soon as my wife dozes off. When she wakes up the first thing she always does is check to see if I am speeding again.

Wakes her up a little quicker when she sees 165 showing on the speedo.

Found this joke elsewhere...... :lol::lol::lol:

There's an old sea story in the Navy about a ship's Captain who inspected his sailors, and afterward told the Chief Boatswain that his men smelled bad. The Captain suggested perhaps it would help if the sailors would change underwear occasionally.

The Chief responded, "Aye, aye sir, I'll see to it immediately!"

The Chief went straight to the sailors berth deck and announced, "The Captain thinks you guys smell bad and wants you to change your underwear." He continued, "Pittman, you change with Jones, McCarthy, you change with

Witkowski, and Brown, you change with Schultz. Now GET TO IT!"

THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS:

Someone may come along and promise "Change", but don't count on things smelling any better.

Remember that Obama is a disciple of Saul Alinsky. As a matter of fact, remember that above all else.

From Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals:

In this book we are concerned with how to create mass organizations to seize power and give it to the people; to realize the democratic dream of equality, justice, peace.... "Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.' This means revolution." p.3

...

"A Marxist begins with his prime truth that all evils are caused by the exploitation of the proletariat by the capitalists. From this he logically proceeds to the revolution to end capitalism, then into the third stage of reorganization into a new social order of the dictatorship of the proletariat, and finally the last stage -- the political paradise of communism." p.10

Also, read up on the Cloward-Piven Strategy.

Once you get past the "no way!" phase, you'll understand where Obama is taking us.

made it from leon vally in sa to corpus .in one and ahalf hours ..

Five years ago (when the caddy only had 46K on the clock) we made it from el paso to Lordsburg NM in 1 hour fifteen. I slowed down for the "safety corridors". Before screaming at me - it was 4 am and there were almost no other vehicles on the interstate (the few there were I slowed to 80 to pass so I did not scare em off the road)

In case you're not familiar with the drive - that was a 135 average speed. The highest I saw (who looks down at that speed) was 159. Wouldn't try it now though - original wheel bearings etc at 165K

Wife fell asleep in Texas and woke up in Arizona.
