OCTOBER WEATHER CREATES NOVEMBER TRIPLEHEADER THIS WEEKEND AT MEMPHIS, OSKALOOSA

MEMPHIS, Mo. (Nov. 2) – Recent postponements due to cold and rainy weather have combined to make what is shaping up to be one of the year's biggest events in America's heartland.

The Pepsi Memphis Nationals will be held this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6-7, at the Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, Mo. Just 80 miles north, the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa, will host the finale of the 23rd Annual MUSCO Lighting Fall Challenge on Sunday, Nov. 8.

USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks will be in action on the semi-banked 3/8-mile Scotland County Speedway oval for the first time since 2007, while the same four classes will wrap up the second half of their twice-postponed program at the Oskaloosa speedplant.

Fans who braved unseasonably cool temperatures Oct. 9 were treated to a night of spills, chills and thrills as a field of 172 drivers packed the pit area for opening night of the MUSCO Lighting Fall Challenge at the Southern Iowa Speedway. Snow covered the ground the following morning, so the second round of the event was postponed to Halloween afternoon where weather again forced the move to this coming weekend.

"We've been getting non-stop calls from drivers all over the region, and as far away as South Dakota and Texas, inquiring about this weekend's shows," said Todd Staley, president of RL Promotions which will be producing the events at both facilities. "The response from fans has been overwhelming too. They're hungry for one final blast of racing before the winter off-season. If the weather is on our side, this should be one heck of a weekend of racing."

The action kicks off on Thursday at the Scotland County Speedway with an open practice for all classes from 6-9 p.m. For race fans wanting to get a sneak peek at the competitors and their machines, admission to the grandstands is free. Gates will open at 4 p.m. On Friday, pit gates open at 4:00 p.m., grandstands open for general admission seating at 5:15, hot laps are at 6:15 and racing begins at 7:00. Pit gates open at 1:00 on Saturday with grandstand gates swinging open at 2:00 and racing at 4:00 (no hot laps). Outlaw Hobbys will also be on the racing card on Saturday.

There is no entry fee for the Pepsi Memphis Nationals if drivers pre-enter by Wednesday, Nov. 4, by calling the RL Promotions office at 515-832-7944, emailing todd@rlpromotions.com or by downloading the entry form at www.rlpromotions.com/memphisnationals.pdf and mailing or faxing the completed form. All drivers entering at the track on race day will be charged a $25 entry fee.

At the Southern Iowa Speedway on Sunday, pit gates will open at 12 noon and the grandstands will open at 1:00, with hot laps at 2:30 and racing at 3:00.

Drivers who did not compete in the MUSCO Lighting Fall Challenge opener on Friday, Oct. 9, are invited to race this Sunday. The early entry fees of $50 for Hobby Stocks and B-Mods, $75 for Stock Cars and $100 for Modifieds have been extended through race day for all new entries at the track.

All drivers will draw each day for heat race starting positions, with top qualifiers re-drawing each night for feature race starting positions. A complete program of qualifying heats, last chance races and feature races are on tap all three nights.
