ToryC
The racing community has always been the best in sending positive thoughts and payers out to it's extended family. This time, I would like to request one on my own behalf. My mom was just diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer. I'm taking her to a specialist in the morning. At age 88, she may not wish to undergo the surgery and procedures ahead. Whatever her wishes are, I support them. I'd like to request that the racing community take a moment to put her in your thoughts and prayers. Her name is Lydia. She is the strongest and bravest person I have ever known, surviving through war and depression and so much more. When I was a young racer, she worked days at a car wash and nights as a waitress to keep the rent paid and help get my race car to the track. She is my hero. Thank You. Also, does anyone have an update on Ed Spreen? - Tory C
NeilTPS
Tory: We extend our deepest sympathy and understanding of your Mom Lydia's situation. Sympathy because any of us who have lost a mother regard that time as one of the worst times in our lives. Understanding because my grandmother was also named Lydia. She was also my hero. She left us at about the age of 88. I know you will stay strong my friend. Neil and Terry Upchurch

NickHolt
Tory, Your mom will always be your mom whether here or when she has gone to her reward in Heaven. Your respect and love for her and God's love is what she needs as she goes through this time and apparently she has both. Our prayer is that God's comfort will see your through this trial. ToryC
Thank You, Neil & Terry, LilMod, Nick... your thoughts are appreciated. Mom had a massive heart failure 8 years ago and was given less than 20% survival. She's still here and strong. I've often joked with her that she will outlive me. She's a strong girl and might just sail through this with flying colors!

Boernebullet
Our prayers go out to you and your mother. Gregs dad Ed had his surgery yesterday to try and repair both arms and one leg. The surgery on his arms took longer than planned (5hrs) so they did not have a chance to do his leg. They had him out of bed and in a wheel chair today. The docotrs have not given us much of an update on the cancers he has, but they have started steroids to strengthen his bones and chemo to slow the cancer down in his bones. Thank You for asking and keeping him in your prayers We also want to Thank You for the picture you took of him on his scooter at THR a few weeks ago. Greg's mom has that picture in her house. ToryC
Thanks for the update on Ed and for your thoughts and prayers. Glad to hear he was up in a wheelchair. Was he trying to race it? I am so glad I got that shot of him. I think the photo came out just right and captures him well. It's those rare shots of special people at special times that make me glad I had a camera in hand. I will email you a full resolution file of it. Well, we're off to the doctors in a few. Should know more on Mom's situation soon. - Tory

ToryC
Thank you all. You are much appreciated. After meeting with the specialist this morning, Mom has decided to go forward with having the tumors removed and subsequent chemotherapy. It won't be easy, but she's a tough cookie! She had her blood tests and CAT scan today and will see the cardiologist and her primary doctor tomorrow. The surgery is scheduled for Tuesday. I will let you all know how it goes. And again... Thank You.
