Qualitycraft Racing
i was wonderin if anyone in SA would be willing to help me get my valves set correctly. i have run 2 races the way they are but can tell you that they are on the loose side NOT the tight side. i realize that someone would have to take time out of their day to help, but also know how quick people in the racing community are to help a felllow racer. i asked a buddy (not freddy) and he said to do it correctly it takes time and tools and he'd have to charge me $60 an hour. anyway, im in NW SA and could bring my car to anyone willing to help. figured it dont hurt to ask, maybe even find someone to do it for less than $60 an hour. thanks to anyone willing to help or point me in the right direction. 1955chevy33
This is your buddy Freddy and for $60.00 an hour you could take it to a dealership for those rates. It shouldnt take long to readjust them. If you cant get them done in san antonio,we can work on them at the track this weekend. TTYL

joker03
0 deg TDC, both number one valves shut. Adjust the #1 exhaust valve Adjust the #1 intake valve Adjust the #3 exhaust valve Adjust the #5 intake valve Adjust the #7 intake valve Adjust the #2 intake valve Adjust the #4 exhaust valve Adjust the #8 exhaust valve Now rotate the engine 360 degrees. The mark on the balancer should be back at the TDC mark. Keep in mind that this is not the TDC where #1 would be firing! It's where #6 would fire. Adjust the #3 intake valve Adjust the #5 exhaust valve Adjust the #7 exhaust valve Adjust the #2 exhaust valve Adjust the #4 intake valve Adjust the #6 exhaust valve Adjust the #6 intake valve Adjust the #8 intake valve http://www.thedirtforum.com/chevyvalves.htm http://www.classiccarauto.com/impala/how_t...st_valves.shtml
Bull10
The Speedway Motors catalog also has instructions at the bottom of one of the pages in the camshaft section. Makes it petty easy, at least for me.

You rotate the crank 1/8 of a turn between each adjustment.

It takes longer to warm the motor up than it does to run the valves. Watch him when he does it, and you'll be good to go next time.

Qualitycraft Racing
dennis came by my house today and helped me with the valves and more. he's a real nice guy and took the time to explain to me exactly what we were doing. the way he showed me how to do it made alot of sense, and between the stroke chart and the diagrams he made , im confident i can make the adjustments on my own from now on. thanks again dennis, i didnt expect you to take the time to show me what you did. and thanks for the float adjustment too
