texas_fast_tracks
I have now had 7 drivers and 3 customers say that they are truely intersted in our Ladies Only racing league. In addition, I have had an uncounted number of people express some kind of interest. The problem seems to me that we can't settle on a date when everyone can be there. So, I'm going to try again. Thursday, July 24th we will race at Texas Fast Tracks. We will waive our membership requirement for that race. So, the registration fee will be $30/racer. Half of the total collected registration fees will be awarded to 1st place. Okay, so if 6 ladies show up, the prize is $90. If 10 show up, its $150. The maximum possible prize of $250 is reached with 17 racers. This is the same deal we run on our Tuesday night race which anyone can sign up for (male or female). You must be a member to race on Tuesdays. Membership is $30.00/yr. Please be aware that you will not do well if you have not driven our track ever before and you try to race on it. The track is not like asphalt and its not like dirt. You will be well advised to practice before you try to race. Having said that, I will do anything in my power to make our race as good as it can be. That includes all the inside information about how to race on our track. If I have to, we will get in the karts and do laps until we have the track mastered. There is a trick to what we are doing out here, so expect there to be a learning curve. We can make that happen pretty quick, so make sure you come out ahead of time. We do race with a balloon tied to the front bumper. The balloon's job is mainly to protect the kart. If you pop your balloon during a heat or the main, you have to leave the track and pull into the pit. Without the balloon, the karts tend to get busted up. Beyond that, the race becomes more of a musical chairs game where everyone takes turns spinning out the lead kart. So the balloons are here to stay, so that we can keep racing. For those who don't like the balloon thing, I'd like to point out that in an open wheel class, you must polish your game or you end up eating a little. The balloon is the same deal. The people who do well on our track are able to manage the balloon just like any other element of racing. The end result is that you take the experience with you to the next track you race on, it makes you better. Its just like landing a hellocopter on a navy ship. Naval pilots have to bump up their game more than the Airforce because of the ocean. Same with us. This is a really fun race, with really greate people around it. There is a free BBQ after where we all sit around and argue about who did what wrong. If you don't have that, then you don't have real racers do you? I love it, I learn more after the race than I do during. The people who stay and hang out are the best. We wouldn't do it if it weren't for them. So come out, and lets have it. The best Ladies Only racing league in the state! It very well could be. Best regards, Charles Hudson
