NickHolt
After Two months of no racing, Colt James is fired up heading into the Super Sonic 100. By Colt James Motorsports - M.P.H. Promotions Troutman, North Carolina (Wednesday, July 9, 2008): It's been way too long according to Buda, Texas, native, Colt James, who now calls Troutman, North Carolina home, since the 25-year-old has raced in live conditions! Back on June 21st, James and crew made the trip down to the home of Florida Speedweeks, New Smyrna Speedway in Samsula, Florida for what was to be the fourth race of the season, the Florida 100 Presented by Crane Cams. Mother Nature won everything insight however and the New Smyrna 100-lap Feature for the ASA Late Model Series Southern Division has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 27, 2008. "New Smyrna was a bummer but you can't control the weather!" James remarked. "We got about three (3) total laps of practice in before the rain came, but I'm really looking forward to going back. It's a pretty fast race track and reminds me a lot of the San Antonio Speedway, my old home track!" James offered. Now James and crew will make the short jaunt from Troutman to Concord, North Carolina, as the tricky 1/2 mile Progressively Banked Paved Tri-Oval of Concord Motorsport Park awaits the ASALMS Southern Division on Saturday, July 12, 2008 for the running of the Super Sonic 100. "We're really excited about going to Concord. Especially since it's been over two months since I've raced and I'm really ready to get back on the track." An anxious James said. "I've never raced at Concord, but been there a couple times to watch and the only thing I can compare it too is a Mini-Pocono." He laughed. "It should be a lot of fun and a good show for the fans. I have a bunch of family coming up from Texas and a bunch of friends coming out to watch. Hopefully we can get the car dialed in and put ourselves in contention for a shot at a win." He added "I've just got to thank my sponsors and also my crew; Jamie Hazelwood, David Umscheid, My Wife, Elisha James and My Mom and Dad for their support." So far in 2008, James hasn't finished worse than fourth in three ASALMS South races so far. He's done that twice to go with a season high second place in the Georgia Showdown 100 at New Senoia Raceway back on April 19th. Heading into Concord, James is solidly in second place in the season long points chase and is 62 markers back of Lang in the chase for the 2008 ASALMS Southern Division Championship (591-529). He also leads current Rookie of the Year Points Leader, David Odell by 20 points for that second spot. For the remainder of the 2008 racing season, James is racing his Ford Fusion with sponsorship from; Magnum Trailers, as well as Wells Cargo, Day Motorsports, Umsheid Race Services, Aero Race Wheels, Robert Hamke Race Cars, M.P.H. Promotions, and Colt James Motorsports.
