debwill
Although this thread has nothing to do with racing, Terry Dickerson, who is the owner of the TSZ website, has asked that I post some information on one of the contestants in the Nashville Star show. Gabe Garcia is from Lytle, TX, which is just south of San Antonio. If you haven't checked out the show yet, it is broadcast on Monday nights at 8:00 p.m. on WOAI-TV (Channel 4 in the San Antonio area). He needs our votes to continue with the show. Here's a little more about Gabe: Gabe is proud of his roots and wants to inspire other Hispanics to pursue a career in country music, just as Rick Trevino inspired him. The ultimate Tex-Mex cowboy, Gabe left San Antonio and his job of 10 years after his father passed away last October. He's now following his dream and he's not turning back. With his family's support, Gabe wants to be the next "Nashville Star" with his mother cheering him on from the audience. He's a very talented musician, and we hope he can count on some support from the racing community. Here are the voting times: 8:55 pm Monday - 11:00 pm Monday You can place your vote by calling 1-866-978 2701, or you can go to Nashville Star to cast your vote on line. RodneyRodriguez
I'm out of the loop on these deals, is that a local show in SA?
debwill
No, it's a national show, I think. It should be broadcast at the same time on the Austin WOAI-TV affiliate for the Austin area.
RodneyRodriguez
10-4, that would KXAN, I'll try to chek it out..
REBELRACER
it used to be on cmt i think, but this year they moved it to nbc. maybe to get more viewers since some people may not have cmt.
ivicic
Nashville Star is alot better show, talent wise, than American Idol. The people sing alot better and actually have talent. Buddy Jewel won the first year and then I think Miranda Lambert came in second. She has done the best so far of having a good recording deal. bigfat
This yick from Devine that used to work for CPS Energy can't sing.

rona
Oh my Gosh - Big Fat - I totally disagree with you. Outlaw - he is definately worth watching and voting for. And another thing Big Fat - he is from Lytle. He used to sing Karaoke at our Relay for Life when he was much younger. He is a very talented young man. I just watched Gabe again and once again - HE NAILED IT. I am proud to say he is from my area....................Vote for Gabe - 1-866-978-2703 this week. Thank Terry for getting that important message out.
bigfat
You're correct Rona, my bad. This yick from Lytle that used to work for CPS Energy can't sing. But then again the majority of this years folks on that show can't. I only watched one episode and I'm tone deaf now, 6 Bees. Don't get me wrong, he's better than those others, but that aint saying much. I don't see any of those folks going anywhere. Damn sure aint gonna do what Miranda has done. HoosierDaddy
Gabe's pretty damn good, I've seen him play plenty times out here in the Castroville area. He's the only real country guy on there, the rest are all like rascal flats look-a-likes.
REBELRACER
the rest are all girls, except for that poser coffey. that guy sucks worse then that chinese guy did on american idol a few years ago. that gabe guy sounded pretty good, he just didnt look comfortable on stage. he looked a little nervous, which is understandable. but he should definitely make it to the top 3 against the rest of those people. RodneyRodriguez
question is, can these cats out-talent Sangia (however thats spelt) all kidding aside, Idol gave country Carrie Underwood, she's good. I remember when I was in high school I had an english teacher who always said her husband played guitar for a dude who was going to make it big sometime; I finally bit and went to see this group (truth be known, more to see the teacher) and the guy was good... she was right, about a year later he hit big, it was ol' Clint Black.. pretty cool! debwill
GABE GARCIA HOMECOMING PARADE IN LYTLE, 5P, JULY 23 As some of you may already know, Gabe is still doing well in the Nashville Star competition. It's down to five contestants, and he was in the top two on the show this past Monday night. His hometown (Lytle, TX) is planning a big event to celebrate Gabe's success so far AND HE WILL BE THERE! Since THR and TSZ has shown it's support of Gabe during the past few weeks, we've been asked to be part of the event. Anthony Gordon, driver of rhe Thunder Stock #18 at Thunderhill Raceway, will be representing us in the parade. As you can see from the picture below, he has a Gabe Garcia sticker on his car, and his pit crew wore Gabe Garcia t-shirts at the July 12 race at THR. If you're interested in checking out the event, it will be held on Wednesday, July 23, in Lytle, TX, which is south of San Antonio (right on IH-35). In addition to the parade, there will also be displays and a concert in the park afterwards. I understand that the folks from Nashville Star will be there and taping the event. Who knows - maybe one of our race cars will end up on national TV! Please contact me if you're interested in helping us decorate the trailer that we'll be using in the parade. We'll probably meet up around 1P in Lytle. And, again, we're asking for your support and votes for this very promising young star - Monday nights at 8P. debwill
Don't forget to watch Nashville Star tonight at 8P on NBC - and cast your votes for Gabe on NBC.com. It looks like Dolly may rain on our parade on Wednesday!

debwill
Better yet, vote online. This link will take you directly to the voting process: Nashville Star You can still vote for the next hour. Gabe is great, but he's up against some tough competition. I thought the show was awesome tonight - lots of talent out there. Since Gabe is still in the finals, we'll get to hear him in concert on Wednesday night after the parade in Lytle - probably in the rain! LOL
ivicic
That was the best show so far! All contestants sang their original songs and everyones song was great.
debwill
We had an awesome evening in Lytle yesterday, and it didn't even rain on our parade! Anthony Gordon and the folks from Screen Pro Graphics did an great job of getting Anthony's car ready for the parade. It was a big hit. While we were putting the final touches on the trailer, WOAI-TV stopped by and did an interview with me on why we were participating in the parade. I spoke about the support of the Texas racing community on TSZ and at THR. I'm not sure if it was aired last night - got home pretty late. Nashville Star taped all of the events - including the parade and the concert in the park following the parade. The Executive Producer was also there. Gabe put on an awesome concert. That guy really can sing! We also gave out lots of free tickets to this weekend's race at THR. We hope we see a lot of new fans on Saturday. Here are a few pictures from the parade: Lined up and ready to go: Gabe waving as we went by: Anthony with the Medina County Queen and her court: Terry Dickerson, TSZ Website Owner, also showed his support of Gabe:
jakdad
I'm really out of it! I thought we were susposed to vote for a race car driver.....................
debwill
jakdad, No, he's not a race car driver. A singer and race car driver would be a heck of a combination! LOL The reason we were asked to participate in the events was because of the support of Gabe by the Texas racing community and the 3500 members on TSZ. And besides that, he's a down-to-earth Texan who's really good.
RodneyRodriguez
hell yeah, Marty Robbins, Kyle Petty, even Jeff Gordon, he had one performance @ Wrigley STADIUM.
ivicic
Yea outlaw I'm glad you said Gordon performed, because he really didn't entertain anybody.
