Two in a Row for Wood with ASCS Sooner Score at KSP

Lonnie Wheatley, KENNEDALE, Texas (June 27, 2008) – Joe Wood, Jr., reeled off his second consecutive American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region feature win by charging to victory lane in Friday night's 25-lap main event in the series first appearance at Kennedale Speedway Park.

After collecting his first career ASCS feature win two weekends ago, Wood took advantage of Brian McClelland's early misfortune to post triumph number two aboard the Wesmar-powered J&W Oilfield Services/Signfxr No. 03 Maxim.

While Wood started the feature from the second row, current series point leader McClelland paced the opening rounds. But when his right rear tire went flat on a lap five restart, McClelland was relegated to the pit area and a 17th-place finish.

Wood assumed the lead and never looked back, taking the checkered flag in front of Johnny Miler, with Matt Covington, Gary Taylor and Marvin Lough rounding out the top five.

Kevin Ramey was sixth, with Skip Wilson, Kolt Walker, 16th-starter Trey Robb and Michael Brown completing the top ten.

Travis Rilat, Miller, McClelland and Lough topped heat race action for the 31-car field, with Jerry Bell and Robb winning the twin "B" Mains.

The ASCS Sooner Region makes the voyage across the parking lot to Cowtown Speedway on Saturday night to complete the weekend double in Kennedale, TX.
