2008 Schedule

Recommended Posts

The 2008 Texana Raceway Park racing schedule has been posted to the website. You can view the schedule at www.texanaracewaypark.org. Click on the schedule button from the home page or any page within the site.

Current planned events in addition to the regular race schedule are noted. Any other special happenings will be posted at a later date as they are determined.

A few points of interest:

1. Texana Raceway Park will host our first ever ASCS Sprint Car event on July 4th. The series will be at South Texas Speedway on July 3rd, Texana on July 4th, and a track in the Houston area on July 5th. This should be a great event with a good car count as the series will be running for some good money three night straight as they move up the gulf coast. In addition to the Sprints, the modifieds and limiteds will be running and we'll be featuring a special fireworks show for everyone in attendance.

2. We will have a fender class only event on July 5th which will include the Texana Classic Dwarf Cars along with a demo derby, reverse race and blindfold race.

3. We have been working very closely with the Southern Late Model Stock Association. Most if not all of the super stock drivers are aware of this. The focus has been to have a set of rules that will work for Texana Super Stocks and the Southern Late Model Stocks to run together. The class will be at Texana once each month as noted on the schedule and drivers will have the chance to run two addtional events each month at other tracks near Houston. This should provide the opportunity for some good car counts in that class and provide for an opportunity for drivers to run for series points.

3. On the nights when the southern late model stocks / super stocks are running, we have a rotating class sheduled off, which is easily viewed on the schedule.

4. In May, we have our second ever Spectator Race scheduled. It will pay to win, again. While our innagural event had a small group decide to participate, it was easy to see it was big hit with the fans and several folks wish they had ventured out to compete.

5. It will be double points on opening night and the final race night!

6. There are a few minimal rule changes and the final editing is being done on those. Most of the changes are for clarity purposes based on questions that arose in the 2007 season. It is our plan to have the rules printed and ready to hand out tn the banquet on Dec. 8th, followed by posting on the website right after the banquet.

Thank you
