Sovey Scores a Win at HOT

 

ELM MOTT—Sam Sovey from Waco made the trip to Victory Lane after winning the I.M.C.A. SportMod feature Friday night at the Heart O' Texas Speedway. Jason Honey from Waco and Shad Stevens from Troy were the second and third place finishers.

 

Michael Robertson from McGregor, third in points, picked up the win in the I.M.C.A. hobby stock class ahead of the top two point leaders, Nathan Sodek from Temple and Charles Cosper from Belton.

 

Chad Estes from Troy won the I-stock feature. Benji Kirkpatrick from Elm Mott and Ed Thompson from Waco were second and third.

 

Top three in the I.M.C.A. modified feature were P.J. Egbert from Kempner, Chad Estes from Troy, and Johnny Sheets from Gatesville.

 

Ralph Wren from Bryan inherited the win in the Brazos Mini Sprint feature after the winning car failed a pos trace inspection. Dewayne Berger, also from Bryan, advanced to second, and Jeb Sessums from Burleson took third.

 

Andy Roller from Bellmead collected the winner’s trophy in the pure stock feature. David Andrews and Timmy Kemp, also from Bellmead, followed in second and third.

 

Jason Gauntt from Elm Mott came in first in the street stock feature. Local drivers, Greg and Doug Andrews, rounded out the top three.

 

Jeff Willis from West reclaimed the points lead in the cruiser class with another feature win. Martin Quiram from Hubbard took second, and Jeff Williams from Waco ran third.

 

The junior mini stock top three were Justin Walker from Conroe, Aaron Childress from Bertram, and Garett Rawls from China Spring.

 

The much anticipated return of the ASCS Gulf/Sooner Regions Sprint Car race will highlight next Friday’s lineup. I.M.C.A. modifieds, I-stocks, SportMods, and hobby stocks will run heats and features. Street stocks, pure stocks, cruisers, and junior mini stocks will run features only. Gates open at 6:00 P.M. and racing action begins at 8:00 P.M.
