Naw...., you don't see this engine much anymore. A 348 rebuild was one of a list of high school auto mechanic projects, but that was a long time ago. Never seemed to be very popular, I don't know why. Drag racers could get a lot out of the 409, though. I only have 1 engine in my garage right now, and it is more rare than the W engines. tps48 Posted September 4, 2007 Report Share Posted September 4, 2007 Back in the 70's I had a 56 Chevy 1 ton truck race car hauler. It had the 348 w/ 3 2bbl carbs.
