rebelracewriter
McGuire Takes HOT Win ELM MOTT—Pat McGuire from Belton led close friend, Kenny Stone from Troy, to the finish line in the I.M.C.A. feature Friday night at the Heart O' Texas Speedway. P.J. Egbert from Kempner was third in a group of 32 racers vying for the win. A record field of 184 cars for a regular race night competed in 9 classes. Benji Kirkpatrick from Elm Mott took the lead on the last lap, after Troy’s Chad Estes suffered car failure, and went on to win the I-stock feature. Jason Gore from Rowlett and Eric Jones from Killeen followed in second and third. Greg Atwood from Georgetown came out on top in a 5 car battle for the I.M.C.A. SportMod win. Donny Miller from Tom Bean and Dillon Smith from Waco took second and third. Nathan Sodek worked his way to the lead about halfway through the I.M.C.A. hobby stock feature and went home with the winner’s trophy. Michael Robertson from McGregor ran second, and Daniel Payne from Joshua was third. Waco’s David Khoury was chased the whole race, but held off hard charges from Whitney’s Mark Geurin and local driver, Greg Andrews, to claim the top prize in the street stock feature. Kevin Smith from Waco survived multiple red/yellow flag incidents to win the pure stock feature race. David Sawyer from Axtell finished second, and Jimmy Reid from Waco ended up in third. Martin Quiram from Hubbard earned his first feature win of the season in the cruiser feature ahead of Mike Bolfing from Smithville and Kenneth Dean from Elm Mott. The top three finishers in the junior mini stock feature were Dylan Smith from Robinson, Aaron Childress from Bertram, and Justin Walker from Conroe. Troy Wren from Bryan won the non-stop Brazos Mini Sprint feature. Tom Hutchison from Alvarado and Chipper Wood from Bryan were the second and third place drivers in a race that started with 18 cars and ended with 17 finishers. Next Friday will include a regular race program for all I.M.C.A. classes and features only for street stocks, pure stocks, cruisers, and junior mini stocks to leave time for an always popular Demolition Derby at the end of the night.
