Mirth wins 50-lap Texas Truck feature at THR

Pole-sitter J. R. Meredith ended up in the front straight wall at the drop of the green as several trucks diced for position. Meredith rejoined the field but retired early.

Jim Albert led most of the race with Rusty Mirth glued to his bumper for the first 47 laps. With three laps to go, Mirth worked his way under Albert going down the back straight, made the pass stick and took the checkered over Albert.

Nine trucks started the feature.

Nick, I know it's late and all, but can you explain this update to me. Mirth rejoins field but retires early.

"Jim Albert led most of the race with Rusty Mirth glued to his bumper for the first 47 laps. With three laps to go, Mirth worked his way under Albert going down the back straight, made the pass stick and took the checkered over Mirth." Who took the checkered over Mirth?

we had a bad miss after we took the carb to get it teched, must have got some trash in it or ripped a gasket.

but it was hell trying to find where the miss was coming from. it sounded like an ignition miss but ruled that out after testing the whole system. we then brought the rpm up to where it was missing shot each header tube with a pyrometer and found out it was coming from #8 cylinder so we stock a bore scope in it but saw nothing wierd. we figured it might be coming from the carb so we tryed a different carb and the miss was gone. we finished about 10minutes before the race ranit across the scales put some wedge in it and

went racing.

Thanks Chad,

I had told Sean I thought it was the carb(float level), but said it was a guess.... Congrats again!

When Rusty went around Jim, half the stands from the flag stand to turn #1 started screamin'.... You would have thought Rusty was going to win Daytona...

Good run to Jim also and also to that Truck #38... Who's that guy? :D
